Looking for a good book.... Hopefully one will help me...

Post  Guest on Sat Apr 16, 2011 11:09 pm

Sebastian Looked around trying to find a good book on art, he wanted an example of something they would be doing for the next assignment. He was mumbling to himself quietly as he continued to look around for the book, mostly he fought with himself though, actually, it was more like he was arguing with Vlad about Zula, and Vlad was being especially dirty (which is why I'm not actually typing it out).

He pulled out a book and began to look at it, just paging through it for examples.

Andraste peered at him from behind one of the book shelfs, she watched the teacher looking through the books she could feel a very slight breeze coming through a window she had opened earlier because the library had felt warm. She mumbled an old Celtic wind spell and her hand began to glow. She began to manipulate it around the books, and forced them to fly. Suddenly the teacher found himself dangling quite a few feet above the ground with the books being the only things that were holding him up. She was a little worried doing these assignments that could hurt people, she was worried now that her mother would find her as she was doing yet another assignment...

Sebastian began to scream at the top of his lungs, trying to get someone to help him. He couldn't see the child that was hiding behind the bookshelf as he was more concentrating on the books that were the only things holding him up. "HELP ME!!! HELP ME!!!" he screamed at the top of his lungs.

Kale was curled up on one of the couches in the library on the second floor, tucked away in a corner with the Great Inventors and Their Inventions by Frank P. Bachman. She hated to admit that Valentin had managed to place an interest in her about technology, but she was a naturally curious creature. She loved knowing how things worked, what makes things run and more importantly: their flaws.

She was absorbed in the yellowed pages between the red cloth-covered covers when a fair amount of screaming disturbed her. The harpy recognized the voice, and saw no reason to help the poor man, but the flow of air in the library shifted. It was this that caught the woman's interest. Sighing, she closed her book and left it on the seat of the couch, intent on returning later to pick up where she left. Casually she walked over to and off the railing of the second floor balcony. Gliding down to the first floor, the air flowed silently under her feathers. Surveying the area, she narrowed in on what appeared to be Mr. Moyer hanging by floating books. The harpy chuckled lightly and looked for the source. It was not but a moment before she spotted a young girl, whom she vaguely remembered from her class.

'Ah, so this is my assignment at work, is it?'

She drifted down to an isle behind the young girl and approached her quietly on foot. Leaning down, Kale extended her arm just over Andraste's shoulder, holding her hand out next to the girl's own. Without words, the harpy manipulated her favorite element to sweep under the hanging professor, changing temperatures and flows to create something of a tornado effect, aiming to make the teacher spin a little for her own amusement.

She looked at the hand next to her own silently, and slowly cut her ties to the spell watching the teacher spin around screaming louder. She gave a soft gasp as she realized it was another professor, unlike the one they were "torturing."

"Hello Mistress Kale," Andraste said softly, having looked over her shoulder to see the woman, "D-does this mean I pass?" she whispered before looking back at the man hanging in the air, whom she recalled to be her art professor. She picked up her hand and added a few books for a bit more confusion.

"How'd you make it like a twister? Can you teach me?"

Giving a side glance to the girl, the woman gave a rather flat reply.

"I am not a mistress, that is the title for Headmistress Everly, I want nothing to do with it. You may refer to me as Professor or Dean." Kale hummed low in her throat, continually feeding and maintaining the swirling winds.

"Yes, you have passed this assignment anyway. But extra credit for targeting this person in particular." She cackled quickly, eye shining with a malicious intent. "This is but the beginning of a minor whirlwind. You create it by spinning the local winds on the ground, if you power it more it causes a funnel to form, but it makes a right mess indoors. A more powerful version, similar though a little more complicated, is the gustnado. This you start by chilling the air to make a fast moving cold, dry outflow, shifting the electrons to another section of air to make a mass of stationary, warm, air near the outflow boundary. Of course, this needs to be moist. In such a dry area such as this dusty library, one needs to be a little creative." Grinning, Kale took the nails of her left hand to pierce into her right extended arm. "Approximately 83% of blood is water." If you were watching carefully, it appeared to be that the deep red liquid beaded from the four curved slices, they rolled down her arm and as they fell, they shriveled into dusk. "Once you have your air stations, you run the cold air mass through the warm air mass. This results in a rolling effect, but if it is strong enough, it can turn vertical and make contact with the ground."

As the harpy was speaking, the wind around the teacher settled before becoming violent again. It rolled, as Kale said it would, then tilted, picking up dust and loose pages that flew from the books. The winds were generally wider and fluffier looking than the previous whirlwind, and they seemed to cause more disruption.

"These, of course, are very small scale. We don't want to ruin our library, after all." She chuckled. "Then, when you've had your fun, you still the flows." The woman's pale, outstretched hand made the motion as if gasping and tugging on a line, fingers spreading as her hand rotated to be snapped shut and her arm pulled back. With her gesture, the winds lost their energy and made a last swirl to once again reach equilibrium. The professor was no longer manipulating any atmosphere in the room, she only watched with a mischievous gaze. "I don't expect any of my students to be able to do anything of this level yet, though."

(( Sorry, info. xD I love tornado's and the like way too much. Also, I don't know if Andraste is still holding up Sebastian. I also don't care if Vlad come in or not. Up to you. ))

Sebastian fell strait to the floor. His body began to grow and his eyes turned a sharp green. He rose, "So we meet again Vögelchen (little bird)." He spoke sharply and with no respect for the woman at all. He cracked his neck a little, and stopped at a very odd angle, his lips curled up into a mischievous grin. He shifted his body weight a bit, and in an instance he began to dash forward, he would be there in not even a second.

The child had nodded along during Kale's presentation, and she was just about to try it herself when she seen a man that sort of looked like the man that had been there before, but felt strangely different. She felt a fear well up in her stomach as he looked at the two of them with his head cocked to the side.

"Gairbhéal carraig agus cloiche sin fíor! Grow os mo chomhair anois a dhéanamh le do thoil!" She quickly yelled as the man began to move. The Earth grumbled for a moment, and the castle's floor seemed to grow a molten stone wall (which quickly cooled before any damage was done) between the book cases. A loud thunk was heard as Vlad's body hit stone. The girl had pulled the magma from the earth and through the castle in order to stop Vlad from hurting them, it had taken a lot of her energy, and she fell to her hands and knees between Kale and the new stone wall. "He was going to hurt us...." she whispered, she was so very tired now.

((Irish = Gravel rock and stone so true! Grow before me now please do!!))

Kale remained passive, hand placed on her tilted right hip, weight distributed unevenly. She tilted her chin up and eyed the wall sprung before her. Walking over, she scratched at it with a delicate fingernail and rolled the dust between her pointer finger and thumb, studying it.

"Sloppy; haphazard; more than a little excessive." She stated her thoughts on the girl's performance. "You need work on where you get your materials from and what you actually do with them, plus your need to shout your spells is rather ineffective, but overall, not bad kid." She turned to gaze down on the fallen child. "He's just a pompous git, don't be so shaken up, Andraste."

She looked up to where the stone wall ended, listening to the vampire's heart on the other side.

"Maybe you should go get some sleep; let the grown ups talk a moment."

'It's about time I properly have a word with Vlad, I think.'

Placing a hand on the wall, she sank her fingers into the stone, breaking the molecular bonds and conserving energy by heating the block core to outer. With the inside pouring down into the earth where it was supposed to be, the entire structure sank in on itself and followed suit, flowing around the woman's hand. With a flick of her wrist, the rest was thrown in and shoved down with a torrent of shrieking winds through the layers below. Looking down the hole the was in result, she sighed. She's have to go fix that damage later, it looked like that wall pierced through the lower dungeons. At least they weren't holding anyone down there.

Grumbling about extra tasks, she used the last of the heated rock to stitch the floor back together, leaving the area practically as they had it before. Kale looked over to see what Vlad was up to in the mean time.

The child slowly walked off, dragging her feet, she was more than exhausted, "I'm sorry Dean Kale..." she whispered before she left the woman with the other adult. She headed off to her dorm.

Vlad was sitting on his butt rubbing his face, "That f------ b----- could've broken my god damn nose!" He looked up at wall and listened to Kale as she told the kid what she had done wrong, but then actually added a bit of praise to it. Not something that Vlad had expected from Kale. He didn't think too kindly of her, and what thoughts weren't kind, the rest were very perverted. He had some ideas for her, but he wouldn't yet voice them. He knew better, he didn't know what her real strength was yet, and it wasn't something he was about to test when she was angry with him. You always watch it tested on another person.

You're going to get me into trouble!

Relax Sebastian, I got this, I got this, I'm sure this -
However his thought was cut off as suddenly the wall wasn't there anymore. He quickly stood up having already ensures his nose was not broken nor was it bleeding. He looked over the Harpy. "Well, well, well, das Mädchen (the girl) hast come to play anyway." He hissed like a vampire. He used a deep, very masculine voice in order to talk to the woman who already seemed to be a bit on the annoyed side. He watched as the child ran off at the command of Kale, and was now sure that "adults talking" was going to be a very bad thing and would possibly result in him being injured.

He didn't show fear, however, he kept a strait face, aside from his cocky smirk that didn't quite reach his cold eyes this time. He was going on the defensive, ready to fight if the need called for it. He had actually considered the small girl as a snack, but it didn't seem like it would be a good idea to do that now. "Some child you got there meine Schöne weibliche Vogel (my pretty female bird). So how old is she anyway? To be able to summon such a great amount of rock to get the Earth to spit up a wall.... Such a waist her talent will be won't it?" He asked trying to figure his next move. He often played games such as this, it had saved Sebastian a number of times whether he wanted to admit it or not. (In Vlad's opinion Sebastian blamed way to much on him.)

The harpy was quite close to him, and he really didn't know how fast she was, it wasn't something he wanted to test right now, because after the tumble with the wall the stupid child had built, there was a good chance that he wasn't going to be able to run away at top speed, and an even greater chance that Vlad would also be caught. Due to the injury in pride that he had, not to mention the fact that Sebastian's piece of the soul still wasn't stable enough to come out again, and Ludolf was still sleeping... there was no escaping into Sebastian's body like he usually did. It would usually end up with him hurt anyway, but sometimes it worked. Nobody ever really wanted to hurt Sebastian. He was too child like to hurt, and almost nobody wanted to hurt a defenseless mutt. He was running out of options to escape, and now worried about how the talk would pan out.

Kale rolled her eye in an exasperated manner, and sighed, landing her gaze flatly on the vampire.

"Oh do shut up." The harpy took two steps closer to Vlad, reaching up despite the height difference to run a finger along the bridge of the man's nose, feeling for breaks or swelling. "Least your nose seems to have faired." Satisfied it that it would only be sore at most, she dropped her hand and glared flatly at the man.

"I've seen better. Powerful it may have been, but the wall was impractical. I would have simply increased the air pressure in your lungs when you were close enough. Much more efficient...and permanent." The woman let a wicked smirk play at her lips as she spread a hand over the man's chest, just above his left lung. "A waste it may be, but my ways are harsh, and if she can not bear the thought of killing, then there is no way she can bear learning under me."

Kale hummed thoughtfully in the back of her throat and pursed her lips slightly in displeasure.

"Now, tell me truthfully." A chill crept from her presence, just enough to brush against the other's skin. "What is it that you were planning on doing, charging at us? Do you have something against me, or are you just always an insufferable, smarmy git?"

The little brat would make me stay here like this... and Kale seems like she wants to kill me... what is she anyway? Blind? Can she not see how hot I am... maybe I'll have to show her... ehh not right now, there's no telling if little kids are around or not. Well I could always erase their minds... or eat them... mmmm kiddy blood... ehh, that's immoral, you can't have fun with little ones like that... they are just too small...

Vlad looked up at Kale as she was now right in front of him. He gave a scowl as she rubbed her finger along his nose, it was still sore. He wasn't exactly pleased with her idea of 'helping'. He studied her for only a moment before he gave a nice big eye roll before once again meeting her eyes.

"Maybe you should try to make her kill something, I'm sure she would be able to do it if you smacked her around a bit..." He said as he looked over Kale, he completely ignored the fact that she just threatened to kill him by way of suffocation... he might have a heart beat, but he really didn't need to breath. Sebastian might mind though... oh well...

"You and the kid smelled good, what can I say?" he asked with a smirk. He made a small circle around her, "Turns out it was just the kid." He gave a dark laugh, she could insult him as much as she wanted, he was convinced that under it all she wanted to be with him. He'd try to show her... eventually...

Kale returned the eye roll.

"Are you volunteering?" The harpy placed her hands on her hips, where the top of her shorts met her bare mid-drift. "As tempting as that sounds, and as eager as I am to have you dead, it's just not worth my time. Though I don't see why you would care." She raised an eyebrow at him as he circled her, a wing flicked indignantly. She smirked anyway.

"Fine then, if you see me as so undesirable." Kale shrugged and casually swiped a thumb over the small red drops that were drying on her right forearm from the scratches she had given herself earlier. She studied the blood on her finger with an air of disinterest. "Then I'll just leave you to find someone better." She brought her thumb to her lips and ran her tongue over the smudge. "Good luck." She cast him a sly smirk and took a step back as if to leave, gaze lingering in a teasing manner. She knew she was daring him, but the twit was fun. Not like she really had anything to worry about anyway.

He wasn't falling for it. He rolled his eyes and cast a dark glance, "Not ALL vampires are weak minded and uncontrolled as the ones you see in the movies sweet cheeks." He spoke sarcastically, but there was a deep hiss to his voice and he just looked at her, amusement gone. "Are you quite done acting like a child? Especially after calling me immature... or at least treating me like I was..."

He took a glance down at his hands and gave a huff, he'd have to take care of his nails and wash up a bit, he was a tad dirty from all the dirt and dust. He didn't really care if he was pinned as a female, or feminine like, he just felt like looking good, as much as it annoyed Seb and Ludolf when he shoved his way out to take six hours to make himself look top shape, before he'd go out and try to pick up girls. Which would usually end with a long night... and a death, both of which Seb and Ludolf could not unsee nor prevent...

Vlad obviously became much more serious in the presence of blood. Usually when he could smell blood, he was being naughty, or he wasn't interested. He really wasn't interested in Kale at the moment either. Not unless he had her. Not unless.....

His thoughts were cut short as he was now concentrating on keeping his body still. There was no beating in his chest, no, only in Sebastian's- it was beating halfheartedly, (*rimshot*) the only sounds of life around the male. His body did want that blood, but his mind didn't. He could control himself if he needed to, and he intended to... he'd show the woman soon enough. She'd be sorry she tempted him.

You'll see Frau Kale, you'll see who will come out on top... it won't be long... and it probably won't be pleasant for you... But your death will be sweet....

You don't think we'll actually let you do that do you? Ludolf spoke in his mind, sounding quite powerful.

SHUT UP YOU FILTHY MUTT! He hissed at Ludolf and slashed him across the face, forgetting the effect of it, A long scratch appeared across Vlad's nose, and dark purple blood started oozed from the cut, as the blood itself was sludge as it simply sat in his body, it was why he would need to get new blood, the blood he had was old, and beginning to clot. Sebastian's blood wasn't much better, while Ludolf's blood was fine... "Damn it!" he hissed under his breath, Kale could probably hear him though.

A strange seriousness came over Kale and her body stilled.

"Fine, fun is over. I never said anything about all vampires, please pay more attention. I don't believe I ever called you immature. My exact words were more along the lines of 'insufferable, smarmy git'," She made delicate air-quotes around her previous insult. The harpy paused and her expression dropped to something unreadable. "You do not know anything about me, Vlad, you should have accepted my lightheartedness and not wish to ever test my morals in the future. I'll tell you now, I do not hold any." The ebony eye narrowed and the heart that had never known guilt or regret sat emotionally silenced in her chest, weighted under science and twisted logic.

She let the quiet moment pass undisturbed until a large cut spread across Vlad's nose and his quiet curse sounded loudly in her ears. Without moving, she studied the gash, noticing the apparently severely deoxygenated blood. Kale rolled her eye.

"Bon sang." The short words were hissed harshly in exasperation at this man's apparent inability to stay out of trouble. She gave him a flat look, genuinely uncaring. "If that blood turns brown it'll be too old to do anything but poison you. I could offer a temporary relief, but I don't do anything for nothing. And since you're completely and utterly useless, having you in debt would be equally insignificant." Kale's hips rolled as she calmly approached the vampire to within arms distance. "I am obliged to extend some sense of civility to Sebastian because he is a registered professor here at the Academy of which I am a Dean. You, however, are not." She tilted her head a small bit and cracked a sort of gleeful smile, rather abruptly lashing out with her right hand, aiming to rake her sharp nails across Vlad's new cut.

(( Bon sang: Good grief/damn ))
