Not much else but books.

Shae was walking down an isle, looking at books.
What else was there to do in the library?

Not much... but he wasn't just browsing.. he was in a particular section.

the "W" section.

He sighed, walking along- not really expecting to find anything.
Who would write a whole book about... he shook his head and just kept looking- so many books even if there was one he wouldn't find it anyway he thought scathingly as he traced the binding on an old novel marked "Wheelbarrows and other gardening Contraptions" wondering why anyone would name a book after something like that.

Or write it in the first place.

Raye, as usual since she had found the library on one of her clueless adventures, was sat on the floor in the middle of the "W" section of the library reading one of the Yaoi manga she had packed in her suitcase - cause really, what interesting books start with W?

Her teeth tugged persistently on one of the two spiderbites piercing her lower lip as her turquoise eyes slipped over the graphic imagery on the pages.

Shae saw the familiar girl and grinned- there WAS something else to do after all.
He walked up to her completely silently, so she wouldn't notice him and sat down behind her before putting his head quite almost ON her shoulder and looked at the book with a raised brow.

"So.. this homework, young miss?" he smirked, looking at the.. descriptive, illustrations.

Raye leaned back into the body behind her as if it was natural to do so and turned the page without missing a beat.

"For arguments sake, I'm learning human anatomy," she replied with a small grin, still not meeting the eyes of the person behind her. "And it's not like you care all that much anyway, Shae. You and Ndale were pretty comfortable, ne?"

Her grin widened and she finally glanced back and met blazing purple eyes with her own swirling turquoise. "Or was I imagining that?"

His smirk widened as she lent back into him and he chuckled.
"I never said i cared" he replied, ignoring Ndales name. Which was easier to do when the older boy wasn't around.

He looked back at her a shrugged. "You might have... but the images I'm sure you have on your phone that I'm also sure you've spent time... viewing... would say otherwise hmm..?"

His gaze flickered to the pages of the book and back to her again, and his smirk widened even further.

She threw her head back and laughed as Shae's last words floated past her ear. "That they would, m'dear."

The end of the book came quicker than Raye would have liked and she dropped the now closed book in her lap. "here for the exciting literature?" she asked sarcastically, motioning to the surprisingly large "W" section in front of her

He grinned now, watching her drop the now finished comic book.
"maybe.. Or maybe I'm here to catch little girls looking at naughty imagery..?" he chuckled again, tapping the discarded book with a mock accusing gaze.

He looked back at the columns of books and shrugged. "I doubt they'd have what I came for anyway." he addedin an undertone.

Raye cocked a brow. "I haven't been called a girl in a hundred years." Which was true. She had never made an effort to hide her age. She would give her age if she were asked, but most just assumed because of her youthful appearance she was only a teenager.

"You were actually looking for a specific book in the 'W' section? I don't think I've ever read a book that begins with W... What book were you looking for?" she asked curiously, laving her tongue over her spiderbites thoughtlessly.

he laughed. "really.. You sure look lke one to me.." he grinned speaking in an almost sarcastic voice before pondering her question.

"yes I suppose I was.." he replied thoughtful. "just looking for a book in which I might find some answers." he finished cryptically, he wasn't going to tell her anything he decided- at least not now.

She huffed quietly. She should be used to people thinking she was young by now, but it still irked her. "I'm one hundred and sixty two," she muttered quietly.

She blinked at his answer. "Answers aren't always good things."

((outside))

He Grinned yet again, pleased he'd managed to annoy her so easily, also because he knew he was probably older.

"Maybe not... But its something you still want to know- isn't it?" he replied half casual half still cryptic.
He shrugged. "surely there's something YOU want to know.. Something you just can't help but question?" he asked keeping his tone casual and leaning back on one arm, flicking his fringe out of his eyes.

"What reason are we even here in the first place?" Raye questioned without hesitation. That was something she'd always wanted to know. "Why do we exist? What is the reason for our existence? It's not really an answer I can pick up in a book..." she added dryly.

She shoved the manga volume in the pocket of her over-sized jacket and turned so she was face-to-face with Shae. "And if it is, point me towards that book."

"so your question is "why"?"
He asked his expression almos unreadable. "that's not so far from mine.." he sighed smiling slightly. "I want to know why.. But not in the same way you do."

He Flicked his hair again, wishing it would stay out of his eyes for once- although because of the way he saw it made little difference.
"I'm afraid I don't think a book can answer either of our questions- but then again.." he grinned suddenly eyes flashing. "why dwell on that when there's so many better things to do..?"
He shifted his weight slightly as he spoke and it involuntarily caused his 'too big' jacket to fall dangerously close to sliding off his shoulder.

"I agree. Those questions are just something to think about when I can't get any sleep. They frustrate me to no end, but I believe they're better left unanswered for now," she admitted easily - for years she had found it difficult to sleep and had thought about those infuriating questions. She had decided long ago that she didn't really want those questions answered.

Raye grinned, eyes sliding down to the jacket that was nearly falling off his shoulders for a second before returning to his. "And what better things are you thinking about?"

Shae chuckled. "agh boat made you believe I'm thinking of anything in specific?" he asked innocently, pulling his lopsided hoodie back into place with his teeth- to lazy to move his hands.

Most of his clothing was too big for him. This was because he didn't like too small cloths but considering mostly all his possessions were stolen from somewhere or someone- he didn't really have the choice to be fussy.
Besides, the loose, flowing garment suited him- and the sleeves had many uses, he thought, running a finger down the concealed blade hidden there almost out of habit.

Raye's grin faded slightly but never left her lips. He's doing that on purpose, she thought, watching his hair flow as he bent his head and his teeth grip the fabric of his jacket.

"I wonder..." she muttered sarcastically.

"hmmm.. Wonder what, my dear?" he asked distractedly, mouth full of cloth before he let go, his jacket now more or less centered but still falling loose around his neck.
He smirked slightly, he enjoyed teasing her.

His eyes flickered across her figure, taking a proper look at her for the first time. While most guys would have done so quickly and discreetly he wasn't really worried- the lack of pupils in his eyes made it hard for people to see what he was doing, it still showed but only if you were being observant enough to notice him looking.

Her hackles rose slightly and she knew instantly he was looking somewhere other than her face or the crazy hair that most other people would stare at. As she stared at his face, she realised she couldn't see that he was looking over her - his pupils - but instinct told her. And as a wolf she trusted her instincts above all else.

"Is the protocol? Teasing the new kid," I elaborated as an afterthought. "Or do you just enjoy it?"

"whatever gave you that impression?" he asked slightly amused, now holding one side of the fastenings on his jacket in his mouth in a vain attempt to tighten it.

He looked back to her face as he spoke and smiled pleasantly. "or do you really find this THAT prevoking?" he asked eyebrow raised his smile turning to a grin, refferring to the lost cause that was his hoodie.

She was getting more and more on edge it seemed which was fun to watch, but he wasn't so sure he couldn't think of better outcomes.

A grin pulled at Raye's lips. "Aw, hon, ya having trouble?" she chuckled, watching as he tried to fight his jacket. In an act of uncharacteristic niceness, she reached forwards to help him.

She stopped short, eyes flickering up to meet his again. "Now, how would ya losing your jacket provoke little old me?" she asked playfully

Shae grinned wider as she reached forward.
"No reason... it just seemed like that might be the case~" he shrugged his eyes silently almost daring her. "But I wouldn't bother.. I think the fastenings broke at some point...." he chuckled, wondering when THAT might have happened..

He was liking where this was going.. and he did his best to ignore the nagging feeling in the back of his mind- he was determined not to care at all.

Raye hesitated for a second before dropping her hands in her lap.
A mental image passed through her head when he spoke of the broken fastenings and before she could stop herself she had already spoken. "Was Ndale a little rough?"
Her teeth fastened onto one of her spiderbites and gave it a little tug.

Shae's grin faltered slightly, but returned after a split second.
"Hmm.. no I think it's been like that for at least a month..." he needed to get away from this topic- badly.

He was annoyed just knowing that it put him on edge. "Why do you do that?" he asked suddenly, not really specifying what he meant- leaving it open to the point where he could have been talking about anything, from the way she tied her shoes, to the conversational strains she kept leading.

Her mind immediately turned to her tendency to her last comment when he spoke. She shrugged subtly. "Its a deterrent. I'm not comfortable with people close to me emotionally. I speak without thinking when I find people are too close. Most people leave me alone. I dont like being alone but I dont like being hurt even more. It's just something I do..." she admitted.

People just thought she was mean and spiteful. But she really couldn't help it. It was a reaction to people getting too close to her. She hated that part of herself.

She worried her lip between her teeth as she awaited his reply, ducking her head so her hair fell over her eyes and his herself from his view. She didnt like people knowing how insecure she was.

In this world, everyone was her enemy.

he laughed slightly,
"hehe actually that was a fair question" he grinned widely again, processing the information he had just received. "But it's not what I was talking about..." he cocked an eyebrow, knowing that she knew just as well as him that she had just told him something rather... private.

He liked knowing things, especially what made people uncomfortable, their secret worries, their hidden fears.
It was all information he could use.
