Up from the Ashes [Esha&Tony] Empty Up from the Ashes [Esha&Tony]

Post  Tony Sharp Sun Feb 17, 2013 9:15 am

The state of the library had improved, but it was far from recovering. Whilst a lot of the smaller parts had been cleared, the clock's heart still remained, and was scheduled to be moved later that week. Many books were damaged beyond repair, having been crushed beneath the wreckage, but sometimes there would be those that had managed to avoid the damage.

Tony could've compared the whole process to tending to an injured, helpless child. In a way, it had been. He owned the library, he'd looked after it through the year. He'd made sure that no harm would ever befall his books, that everything was neat, clean and organised. Yet, he allowed his attention to slip, and he'd suffered the consequences in the worst way possible. Oh, how he had often wished that he had perished with the fall, simply so that he wouldn't have to be alive to see the damage it had caused, and in a state entirely helpless to do anything about it.
But, with reflection, he could see it differently. He could see the improvements taking place. Both the library and he were climbing back onto their feet. Quite honestly, it filled him with pride. He'd never felt such a bond before.

The impact of the structure had struck a deep crack in the floor, splitting past the floorboards, rupturing the stony foundations and reaching to the soil below. It was exactly on this crack that Tony was gazing down at a small, leafy flower that had sprouted. It was green, not yet bloomed or completely developed, yet held a visage that almost seemed to resemble Tony's own features.

The librarian was hunched down next to it, stroking his fingers very gently around its head, tickling its leaves. It seemed to shiver, before swaying slightly in the air. He sighed softly.
Like tending to a child, it surely was.

Up from the Ashes [Esha&Tony] Empty Re: Up from the Ashes [Esha&Tony]

Back into the library for the first time after the harpies nest fell; Esha tread carefully, almost delicately. The ceiling unnerved her, as she kept thinking more of it would descend but she could't turn back now- Esha needed to see what the place looked like and how the librarian was doing.

With a quick, sharp, glance to the ceiling Esha stepped past two steps in the door. No birds. It was almost as if she dared it to drop another brick on the place, or make a single note of bird noise. Although she didn't know quite what she would do if it did, other than curse loudly and foully at it.

The stone girl had walked away and went to the infirmary that night. Then slept, now that the scene was being revisited it felt real. That night had actually happened; It was real. It felt more surreal though; the 'ghouls'- or whatever they were- presence made it oh so easy for her to think that it hadn't actually happened.

After a moment of slowly looking round she called out into the room, almost immediately after wincing at how loud she sounded- a messy and filled with rubble or not, this was still a library.

"Mr Sharp! Are you in here?"

At the noise of a sudden call, he winced, raising his head with alarm, before his eyes settled on its source - a young girl from his literature class. He didn't know much about her, really, other than vaguely knowing that she could not read very well. There was a sort of nagging in the back of his mind that he'd heard the voice somewhere before, but it just wasn't ticking.

With a sort of last, reassuring pat on the plant's bulb, he stood up straight, waving his fingers in an attempt to grab the girl's attention. He thought about calling back, but he didn't really find it in himself to yell.

Watching her expectantly, he wondered whatever was the matter.

Scanning the place over and over, Esha missed him twice. Then caught sight of the fingers waving in the air. The girl had thought he'd be somewhere in the higher floors or the ceiling. Although, in her defense, she was looking for loose bricks in that instance.

Not almost directly on front her. Never mind, she decided, that never happened with a twinge of embarrassment at her searching skills. Or lack of them. She walked up at a strolling speed with her thumbs in her pockets and inclined her head as a greeting with an earnest smile

"You look better, but how have you been?" the stone girl asked, thinking it was obvious she was referring to an incident involving gravity and heavy rubble.

Tony kept his gaze held on the girl as she neared him, only breaking it to give the nearby flower an occasional glance. What surprised him immediately was that it was not some inquiry about the homework nor a concern about the class, that came out, but a conversationalist tone. The plantperson wasn't entirely used to anyone who would really go out of their way to seek him out just to chat, especially when it was someone he hardly knew at all on a personal basis. It was... odd.

He stared, befuddled for a few long moments, before clearing his throat. "Ah... pardon me." He dusted off his own barely sprouting leaves. "I believe that I have been better in these past few days..." He trailed off slightly, turning his head as if he were about to look towards the flower again, before apparently changing his mind and continuing to face the girl.

"How may I help you?" he asked, on the off-chance that she did have some inquiry that she was too shy to speak about.

He looked fine but it was hard to tell if that was the pant person at his best. 1000% better though. "It's good to hear you're okay" Esha said nodding, thinking that the plant person healed awfully fast. Last time she was him he was a blind mess of squashed plant matter having to be carried around.

Her mind searched for something to say but she didn't really come here for anything other than checking up. Maybe...hmm. that would work "-you could help me by giving details of your current state of mind and being. 'How are you' basically." she said cheerfully, with a lop-sided smile. A weight had been lifted from her mind when it had been confirmed that Tony was indeed okay.

Thumbs in back pockets, casually standing, Esha's attention was on Tony completely, although it was a difficult task keeping her mind off the ceiling.

Whilst her concern was appreciated, Tony couldn't stop himself at scoffing at how unnecessary it all was. Surely it was the library that had suffered the most, not himself. Surely, in the grand scheme of things, it was this castle that was of the most importance. This slice of history. A thing to be cherished.

But she was intent, it seemed, for reasons that he could not comprehend. And her identity still failed to strike him as someone he particularly knew. Her second question, in particular, was strikingly specific. If she really wanted to know his state in that much detail, Tony was not particularly willing to disclose it. Especially not the 'mind' part. Such was the reason for his hesitation now.

"Well..." he began, clearing his throat with a tiny splutter. "If you really must know, I have been worried sick and have been more frequently relapsing into a chaotic state of mind, and I fear that my currently crooked face will not heal unless I decapitate myself." It was spoken with a dry, exasperated tone, and the plantperson left no gap to respond to it before he shifted onto the next topic.
"Esha, was it? Might I question your business with me?"

The brutal honesty wasn't expected, nor was him having to behead himself to heal. So he was like a marigold? Well, that would be something to see. Books being checked out by the headless librarian; Even less reason to visit. The stream of things wrong with with him was worrying; Seemed he did want to talk about it anyway.

"I came to see you, do I need an occasion for that?" Esha asked Tony, looking confused. What was with this guy?...plant. An answer wasn't waited for "I was there when your face got turned into vegetable smoothie up during the library collapse and I came to see how you were healing. Or doing. Whatever." With a frustrated puff, the stonegirl frowned a bit.

Jeez, do I have to spell things out? Esha though, exasperated as the plant person sounded. The rare time she'd attempted to use tact to inquire about things.

It wasn't that Tony didn't have a sense of humour - he did. The problem was, it was an awful one. As such, he couldn't quite take things as lightly as they were intended, which included, but was not limited to Esha called his squashed head a vegetable smoothie. Disgruntled, he flinched back, appalled and frankly quite offended. The only thing that stopped him from protesting was the little spark of a realisation that soon followed.

"I... you... what?" He blinked, before suddenly, both hands lunged forth to grasp at her hand. Yes, yes, her hand, he'd felt it, hadn't he? It was all rushing back to him, that vaguely familiar voice and... oh no. Those events, that catastrophe, the agony, the grief... His eyes widened and his jaws parted.

Suddenly - urgently - he raised both hands to try and grasp at her shirt. "I have something very, very important to ask you," he said, staring intently. "I must-- I absolutely have to know--- ... Did you see it fall?"

Up from the Ashes [Esha&Tony] Empty Re: Up from the Ashes [Esha&Tony]

Post  Esha Tue May 21, 2013 6:02 pm

When the plant person was visibly displeased at what she had said, Esha didn't take long to figure out if was because she had compared him to...okay. The stone girl got that, but did not get the chance to apologise before her hand was snatched away. Whilst she felt like a hypocrite calling this person odd it still passed through her mind.

It wasn't that she couldn't withdraw the hand, she was stilled with confusion. Wasn't like tony could hurt her that badly anyway. Maybe seeing his jaw split open made their relationship one sidedly more intimate.

With an internal wince about how creepy that sounded, and a set of raised eyebrows at the sudden urgency she answered. What was the matter? "The tower? Yeah, I was there. Why?" It seemed to cause him distress so Esha's confusion was doubled at the plant person wanting to relieve it over and over?

She was there. Yes, she must've seen it fall. Tony himself had only seen it the split second before it had collapsed on him, and even then, he was robbed of the chance to witness the after effect. Though he knew, with utmost certainty, that he did not desire to ever experience it again... Well, his desires didn't play a huge role in his decision making processes these days. Responsibilities mattered most, and he needed all the information he could get about the fall.

He started to climb Esha's attire, using the hands on her shirt to pull himself up, while his feet pushed against her legs; he would continue to do so until he was stopped. "I demand a favour of you," he suddenly, urgently said. "It is of great importance. I... I want you to show me what happened at the tower. Everything."

He grasped towards Esha's head - he was long out of reach, but the intention was there.

“I can tell you what happened, if you’d like” Esha said, still unsure it was what the librarian wanted to hear. But if he insisted, then the stone girl would tell him. To her it was all a bit masochistic, his beloved library was marred and he wanted to..? Never mind, she wasn't going to think too hard about that.

Esha was going to say something, but opened her mouth, stuttered a bit and then shut it. People-plant people or not, no matter how short, using her as a human step ladder was a new thing; Frankly, she was confused. An attempt was made to stop the climb as Tony was at Esha’s hip, a hand gently rested on his head as if it would break easily.

How Tony expected her to show it got overlooked, even the odd word choice. “Uh...What are you doing, tony?” The question was asked while she looked down at him, brows furrowing

The first thing that Esha said was ignored.  Tony seemed focused on something, namely, something that was around the stone girl's head. As the hand pressed on his head, he hissed unhappily, before opening his jaws so that Esha would be placing her hand inside his mouth instead.

"Show me what happened!" he repeated, more insistently, as if this would answer Esha's question at all. His arms continued to reach towards her face, growing longer to account for the distance. Some fingers twisted around bits of her clothing, too stubborn to let go, while the remainder made a beeline towards Esha's head.

If allowed the chance, they'd begin to coil around her head, desperate to claw their way into any orifice on her face.

Her eyes widened -even more, if possible- at the hissing and overall demeanor. Had his head grown back with something missing or gone? For all her efforts of keeping him back all she could do, much to her annoyance and dread, was a weak push.

The image of the inside of his head made her hesitant to use too much force pushing him back. She turned herself to stone and tried to get away from the growing limbs. The stonegirl was trying get hold of the plant matter with her hands, but it wasn't going successfully. The lack of heat in the thin fingers made them hard to see. The desire to be careful wasn't helping the cause. "I can't!" She seethed from between her teeth, as her eyes

Tony was either entirely unaware of Esha's discomfort, or he just didn't care. And normally, he would, but another desire had taken hold, one that he was determined to fulfil no matter what. He curled himself around Esha's limbs, fingers snaking up to and around her neck, creeping into her earholes.

As her body turned to stone beneath him, he blinked in surprise. It had been entirely unexpected... but it didn't seem to hinder him much either. Stone or flesh, he would climb it.

Ignoring all that was happening around him, he tried to focus and zone in entirely on Esha's thoughts.... Yes, he could hear them. He could feel them. Right now, he was merely experiencing the struggle that the girl was having in shoving him away... which, of course, was not useful at all. He tightened his grip. "Think about the collapse," he said, disregarding her words entirely.

Up from the Ashes [Esha&Tony] Empty Re: Up from the Ashes [Esha&Tony]

Post  Esha Wed Aug 28, 2013 8:05 pm

Esha shut her eyes and stopped struggling, as told and thought back to that night. Maybe if she just did as she was ordered then the plant would get unwind itself. The memory was a little hazy in the start, but it came back easily enough. If anyone but member of staff had asked...

-Alicia and the rest of gang, Black birds, Swarms of Crows, Following the noise, noise, noise, noise descending into cacophony, The body, The scream, The Blood the Shaking, the Deadening CRACK, The falling inventory of Dean Kale's room, Clock Tower hitting the ground, looking over the wreckage, Finding Audi, Finding Alicia, Finding Tony, Don't worry- it's just messy, trying to rub green blood of her hands-

It could have been moments or a more than 60 seconds but Esha just kept her eyes shut, to help herself remember what happened. Visualize the order if happened in. The purpose of the exercise had flown over her head, She thought hoped that he wasn't winding her up, but Tony's tone of voice sounded completely serious. Deadly serious.

As she shut her eyes, he mentally prepared himself. The pity he felt for using her like this was washed away too quickly by his desperation. What had happened to his precious library? What had he missed? He'd felt naught but the physical effects, but now it was time to see the truth, as it was, through raw memory.

It was blurry at first, but as the images started to focus he-- ... Crows? What were crows doing in his library? These flocks? Why had he not been told of this? The sight of the dead sent a shudder down his spine, then the terror, the sheer terror attacked his vision. Screaming, fear, the collapse, his library-- his beautiful library-- falling victim to the terrifying fall.

And that was when he saw himself. Just a flattened corpse, if even that. And his eyes.... And people had told him it was okay...?

It wasn't okay. It wasn't okay at all.

He made a rasping noise as he coiled ever tighter around her, his head bowed away from view. "Stop," he simply said. "Just stop."

"I'm..sorry." She wasn't really sure what she was apologising for but thinking that he had just gotten a view of what his brain matter looked like there wasn't much else to say. Esha placed a hand gently on his back in an attempt to console. Saying hey, at least you aren't dead didn't really mean what she was trying to convey.

After taking another look around the library and its state, Esha thought it was looking much better. Not even that much rubble anymore. The appeal of libraries, Esha understood, she was just resistant. Practically immune. That's why all the who-ha over this was hard to get her head around. She made an effort to not think of the incident; very easy it turned out. "The place is getting back to rights though, it's getting better. Surely that's good?"

Up from the Ashes [Esha&Tony] Empty Re: Up from the Ashes [Esha&Tony]

Post  Tony Sharp Wed Sep 25, 2013 12:52 am

Though Esha had stopped conceiving it, the images had long left an imprint on his mind, the kind that just weren't so easy to shrug off at all. Her words were like a blur in his head, and the fingers touching his back felt more strange than comforting. But the connection had not yet been cut, and he could still feel her thoughts resonate through the vines still coiled around her head. No, he was not dead... but at some point, he had wished he was. Whether or not he still desired it was a blurry, inconclusive line.

However, as she continued, he finally managed to reach some sort of conclusion - in that he should let go and stop tangling Esha with his grip. "Yes...  Yes, that is good." Slowly, his figners started to uncoil from her, sliding stiffly and slowly back into place. He lowered himself down, but as his toes touched the ground again, he continued on until he was simply curled up on the floor, staring at nothing in front of him.

"...It could be worse," he said, almost as if muttering to himself.  "Could be...  the entire castle could have fell... Someone could have died, yes... someone important.  Could have....--"
He didn't like those memories plaguing him again, oh, and that encounter with that vampire, and how that had helped, why hadn't he read his Godforsaken mind while he was on his shoulder, what a mess this was, what a complete mess---
He rested a hand on his crooked head, his eyes halfheartedly glancing around.  "...Clean it up, please. Just... clean it up."

After getting the plant person dismounted from around her head, the stonegirl took a step back and then another. On the second step she almost stepped and tripped on a bit of rubble so that ended her backward flight away from Tony, as if his manner was physically repelling her and the cause was blocking escape. It probably would damaged her shoe too, Esha considered, biting her lips and feeling uncomfortable at he thought. The whole experience was disconcerting.

Esha wasn't sure what to do. There used to be a counsellor for this type of thing, but Esha didn't know where he'd be at this time and couldn't leave Tony like this, could she? Part of her said yes, she in fact could but another disagreed. She picked up a stray piece of rubble and threw it over to an existing pile, landing it a foot away from the central plant.

"C'mon, I'm not ruining my nails to do this alone" The stonegirl said, more calmly than she felt.
