Cheerleader Tryouts!

Larita had been plastering fliers around the campus all morning, advertising for this moment. And now that she was here, she looked around the room. It was large, definitely large enough for what she needed. She strode across the floor, the usual clicking of her heels absent because she was wearing a pair of white sneakers, and inside the white sneakers were a pair of white socks that reached just below her ankle bone. Her usual name-brand dress had been replaced by an old blue and white cheerleading uniform, complete with short pleaded skirt and exposed midriff. Under her arm, the girl held a notebook with a pen tucked into the binding.

She continued walking to the far side of the large ballroom to a table that she had requested be set up just for this purpose. She sat down in a chair on the far side of the table so that she was facing the room, scanning it with her judgmental eyes. As far as Larita was concerned, this school was lacking one very important aspect, and that was a group of undisputed popular girls. Now, so far all she had seen were girls that seemed to be content in their everyday mundane attire and attitudes, but she was sure that there was potential out there, and she was determined to find it. And what was the one thing that every popular group of girls really needed to reach their full potential? Larita smirked to herself as she thought of the answer. Cheerleaders, of course.

Larita wasn't yet sure exactly what they would cheerlead for, but that didn't matter. Just the image, the uniforms, would be enough to allow them to strut around these halls like they owned them. Larita was sure that this plan could not fail. It was the perfect recipe. All she needed now was to find her girls. And she sat, arms folded over the edge of the table, back straight as she stared down the door, waiting to see who would be the first to try-out.

Yaser wandered the halls in his daily routine of searching for inspiration. He was happy this time around as the fish tank and the design of the whole castle was just inspiring and he just couldn't seem to stop himself from discovering all its secrets. As he walked past a few doors he was stopped by the sight of....a cheerleader? Peeking his head in only for a moment as she had faced the other way had him gain enough observation to assume that this was a try out. He hid once again behind the door and grinned from ear to ear as a little thought popped into his mind. He could't help it, his inner self wanted to to jumps and flips though maybe a teacher wasn't the greatest position for this, then again who said he had to say he was a teacher....or a boy at that. Though his chest was flat he still had a very slim figure that many girls out love,......maybe not the legs though. Either way this would be fun to try out.

Quickly running back to his room, Yaser dug through his, yet to be unpacked boxes and found some pink material. With a grab at some needle and matching thread he crafted a cute short/skirt combination. Hey he couldn't be doing back flips without showing goods now and underwear just wouldn't cover the whole thing. Hopping up and down at his creation he slipped it on and swished around in it like the little girl he was pretending to be. Looking at himself in the mirror he brushed his hair into a cute little pony tail and applied a little eye liner to make his eyes look more curved like a woman's eyes would be, no not Asian now boys and girls. Taking the brush, Yaser brushed what knots he might have had and then placed the brush back into the box. Looking at his new creation he figured maybe the vest was a bit to much to he took it off and tossed it to the side. Observing his self once more he stared at his sleeves and shook his head. "Those have to go, i'm not Fabio with rainbows shooting out my chest......hmmm art idea for later...." Smiling he cut the sleeves off and put them to the side. He wasn't worried he had plenty of shirts like that.

Finally pleased with himself, Yaser ran back to the door in which he had peeked and he cleared his through throat and focused on his new voice. Quite pleased with his self he knocked lightly on the door and stepped in. Walking in a more feminine way he approached the girl in the uniform and smiled sweetly, "Oh finally some one made a cheer leading squad....or I am assuming that this is what it is yes? Please of please I must say that this school needs more inspiration and lookers as well!" Yaser of course was happy with how anyone looked but from the look of Larita he had not known she was the same. Either way this would be fun.

Jami had ben passing the halls as usual when she noticed aposter. Cheerleading. She never had been one before, but the stunts they did, she always imagined in extreme with flying and fire. That would be awesome. She was going to try out. On the day the poster said try outs were held, Jami made hr way to the ball room in a light green short sleeve tee and black sofie shorts. Her socks were the best part. Bright Orange.

She couldn't do much with her hair so she left it as if was. Jami rushed into the Ball room ready to try out. Yaser wearing some interesting get up was in the middle talking to larita. Of course she made this group. It made total sense. But why was the Art teacher here? And why was he looking extemly feminine.

"Hello, I have come to try out."

Larita raised an eye-brow at the first girl to enter. For starters, she was worried about the dangers that the horn on her head would cause to the other girls, but there was something else a little.. off.. that Larita couldn't quite place her finger on. She narrowed her eyes, mentally scrutinizing the girl's obvious lack of essential parts of the female figure, but then again, what person around her wasn't a little off in one way or another? At least her pink skirt was cute. Larita decided that she would give this potential member a chance, and was about to say so when another girl entered the room.

This girl she recognized. They had barely spoken, but Larita had definitely seen her around some of the school's events. She looked the girl up and down through critical eyes. Well, she supposed that she looked the part, if not a little on the goth side. But her complexion was nice at least.

After her quiet judgement was finished, Larita gave a firm nod and took the pencil up in her hand, opening her notebook to a fresh page. She raised her chin and flipped her hair over her shoulder. "Alright. Introduce yourselves and show me what you've got."

This was a good start, but Larita still hoped that more potentials would show up.

Yaser smiled at Larita but his attention was brought to Jami. He knew that she was going to end up making something go wring if his name was spoken. Returning his look to Larita he nodded and opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out. He had neglected to think of a name and felt pretty stupid about this one. Giggle nervously he smiled and thought hard for just a moment, would it be Jami? No wait thats Jami's name, hmmmm got it. He stepped forward and smiled, "My name is Laura Lane." He stepped closer to Jami and went down to her height. "Oh hey Jami, whats up girl! I totally have a secret come here!" Bending down to her ear he began to whisper. "Hehe hey Jami, try and keep my real name a secret. I wanna see how far this can go and if anyone can recognize me and besides this will be fun now wont it?"

He hoped Jami would agree to him and keep this a secret for a fun time. Standing back strait he winked at her then turned back to Larita who was still waiting for Jami to reply with her name. He couldn't wait to see what skills Jami had in this subject.

Deneli arrived at the ballroom in a pair of orange Soffes and an overgrown t-shirt that she cut up and sewn back together in such a way that it was fit against her body. Sewn randomly into the fabric of both peices were a bunch of seashells and other nik-naks that she discovered here and there. She'd specifically done it in a way that would make them all fly out at one time if she spun to look almost like a tutu of seashells. Best of all was her hair. She'd worn it in two low pigtails that hung in front of her shoulders and framed the smile she always had on her face anyway.

She'd seen the fliers around the school, and almost without thinking decided she'd try out. In retrospect, she wasn't all too confident in her ability to actually make the squad, clumsy and not used to doing anything on land as she was. She figured it would be fun to try though, and if she did make it, it'd be great land practice.

Now she looked around the room. Two of the girls she recognized from the time they were locked up in the dining hall, and Larita, she felt, may have actually considered her a friend. Jami, however, she wasn't so sure about. She turned to "Laura Lane" and said in her normal enthusiastci manner, "Hiiii! I'm Deneli!"

As Yaser addressed her she nodded and gave a smile. For effect she giggled a bit and then stepped back. There was a voice in the doorway so Jami turned to see Deneli. After seeing her she summoned her wings in those horrible sliver sparkles, she shot up in the air.There was plenty of room in the ball room. She did some flips and turns. It was all cool but the test would be on the ground...

Jami landed after a short show and did something she could do perfect! A Cart-Wheel. Then she jumps and did a back flip but using her wings. Hopefully it would be enough for ow

Hryshen had been walking down the hallway and she saw the poster. Cheerleading? She read where the try outs would be and grinned eagerly. For once, she remembered where someplace in particular was. She was also excited, maybe some of her students will be there. She hurried on through the corridors to the ballroom door. Cheerleading was something she used to teach baby guppies for fun. Of course they were guppies and not magical beings but it should be a bit similar.

Hryshen opened the ballroom door and peered inside. She was just in time to see an aerial acrobatic display by a silver-haired girl. She was pretty good and it was entertaining to watch.

Once the girl had finished, Hryshen clapped from the door, walking in. "That was a lovely performance. I'm glad I came in time." She then noticed the familiar face of a brunette mermaid she had met not to long ago. "Why hello, Deneli. Are you her for the tryouts?"

Yuuki was walking around the hallways when she happened to peer inside the ballroom. what was going on here? then she spotted the sign...cheerleading tryouts. she walked into the room and spotted Deneli, Jami, two people she didnt' recognize....and Larita. maybe this wasn't such a good idea still, she sucked it up, annd stepped fully inside. "that was really cool, jami," she murmered, letting her own wings out

Larita narrowed her eyes as the horned girl blatantly whispered to the other. What could they possibly have to keep secret about at this moment? But, she decided to let it slide for now, and she scribbled "Laura Lane" down in her notebook, followed by Deneli, who Larita smiled and waved at as the mer-girl walked in the room. She had been hoping that she would show up eventually.

Larita gave a nod of approval as Jami finished her audition and put a check next to her name on the list. When Larita looked back up from her notes, she saw that two more people had come into the room. She smiled to herself, glad that this was becoming such a success. Before she knew it, she would have her own little group of mean girls. It would be perfect.

Not having started classes yet, Larita didn't recognize the gym teacher, and assumed that she was just another student. She did, however, recognize Yuuki, thinking that she had met her somewhere near the beginning of her time here and that they hadn't gotten along very well. But it didn't matter. She wasn't ready to turn away anyone that wanted to join her little group.

"Hey!" she called to the small crowd, who seemed to be chatting with each other, which is not what she intended these tryouts to be about. "Line up and take your turns! I need to see what you can do before anyone can even think of being on the cheerleading team."

If posters had any sense of privacy, they would've felt deeply intruded from the way Lunie had been continuously shoving his face into it. Kuh-eer lee-adder tree-oots. No matter what way he looked at it, he couldn't seem to decipher the strange advertisement, and he wondered if it was worth just disregarding its presence completely. But true to his nature, curiousity got the better of him, and he began making his way towards the ballroom.

His attire was rather simple today - a tight leathery collar was strapped around his neck, decorated with grey/white feathers, presumably from the seagulls roaming the beaches. He wore his traditional shorts, but the cloth that often overlapped his belt was absent today, out of convenience.

He peeped inside the room, noticing there seemed to be quite a gathering here, beyond what he had expected. And, much to his disappointment, there was hardly a face that he recognised. The shyness was overcoming, that is, until he saw Larita, someone who finally seemed familiar. Maybe she knew what was going on? He tentatively stepped forward, his feet barely making a noise against the smooth floor. "What is for... here for?" he squeaked, looking between the strangers with anxious eyes.

Hryshen blinked her eye. "Line up?...for wha...oh." She stood there a moment then laughed nervously. "Oh no, dear. I'm not here to audition." She nodded to affirme what she said, "I'm meerly here to observe. Besides, I don't think you'd allow a teacher to join." She didn't apply the word 'teacher' to anyone but herself, not knowing that there was one of her colleagues mingling in the crowd.

Hryshen then turned towards the new, familiar voice. She then spotted the owner of the voice. She smiled towards Lunie. "Hello there Lunie....I believe these are the auditions to join a cheer leading squad this young lady is organizing." She gestured to Larita.

Yaser watched as the others had done a few small routines and then cursed at his self for not quickly thinking of something to do. Before he was able to even think deeply about it Larita had asked them all to get in a line and so he did. Funny being as tall as he was with the rest of the girls in the room, but for some reason he was now feeling like the one who was standing out from the bunch. Laughing quietly to himself he though of when he was back in the city and even on the country side and how people seemed to have ignored him, stating that he was lazy and a good for nothing. Shrugging he turned his attention to Larita and wondering when she was going to figure out he was a man and in fact one of the professors. He believed that he had seen her name on his list and if that was the case, this was going to be highly entertaining to see how she performs here before he can see her perform in art.

His class was already set up and he was hoping that she had received the info, though maybe this cheer leading thing had distracted her. None the less he knew that she was going to be around. She seemed like a person who wouldn't just quit so easily.....then again maybe she would beat around the bush and find out a different way to finish it. Looking at the others he awaited for them all to finish what routines that they had in mind.

((Ha in my GDD class and our teacher is like on crack with speaking that has no meaning to the class, but its funny and entertaining so its okay ^^))

Yuuki quietly moved forward to stand in line behind....some one with a horn. there was something odd about..."Laura" was it? still, yuuki was much to quiet-spoken to point anything out. and she was curious, too...she and larita hadn't gotten along in their last/first meeting, and she was interested to see what would happen here, in the ballroom. yuuki had never thought that she would ever even consider being a cheerleader, but standing there, in line to perform a routine....she felt an odd thrill go through her


((i know i'm going a tad out of turn, but the order kinda got all flipped up and side ways.....and the thread was kinda quiet until yaser replied, so i thought "meh, what the hey?"

Larita's brows furrowed tightly. This was going to take more effort on her part than she had originally thought. She placed her fingertips on her forehead and closed her eyes, as if a great headache had suddenly come upon her. It's okay, she tried to tell herself, they can't all be hopeless. She just had to get this whole thing organized.

She dropped her hand onto the table in front of her with a thud. "Alright!" she said firmly. "You're in!" she pointed dramatically towards Jami, the only one who had actually tried out so far. "And you're our new coach." This time she pointed towards Hryshen. "Now, both of you come sit here and help me judge." She indicated two chairs, one on either side of herself. Of course, she hadn't asked their opinion on the matter, and it didn't occur to her that they might have one.

"Everyone else, show me what you can do! I want to see dancing, jumping, show me you at least have some sort of rhythm and we can get this group off the ground! Now, whoever wants to go first, go ahead already! The floor is open." She leaned back, resting on the chair-back behind her and crossing her arms over her chest. There, she thought, now things could get going. Or so she hoped.


((Sorry this took me so long! I've been out of the RP mood lately. And yes, those chairs just appeared. Don't argue it. xP))

"Cheer leading?" he echoed quietly, looking rather confused. He visuallised some sort of gathering lead by someone who'd be encouraging them to cheer. He didn't have time to question this image before Larita suddenly spoke, shouting to summon the two she selected to her side.

Dancing... jumping... rhythm. It seemed simple enough. Yet Lunie found his legs trembling as he stepped forward, looking back at the others in an invitational manner as if he willed them to interrupt him before he did anything he regretted. Sighing feverishly, he turned to face the desk Larita was sitting at, fidgetting uncomfortably with the edge of his tail. "I hope I'm not so bad for your eyes," he cooed shyly, trying to add a touch of humour into his speech.

Taking a deep breath, he poised, one arm raised above his head and the other on his hips. Balancing on his toes, he lightly stepped forward, placing one foot in front of the other delicately. His breathing slowed to a rhythmatic level as he allowed himself to be fully immersed into the routine. The world quickly became rather faded around him. The sensation was familiar - it was not his first time performing, nor would it be his last. But the gut feeling of anxiousness would always remain.

He bent forward, placing both of his palms flat on the ground before him before kicking his legs up into a handstand, maintaining this position for a few seconds before before he allowed his legs to slowly lower themselves to the ground before him. His palms were removed from the ground as his legs slid across the ground - one forwards, one backwards - into the splits. He twisted his legs into a tucked position before using the coiled energy to jump up like a spring, splitting his legs wide in midair before landing on two feet.

The movement didn't stop there - he continued to prance along, leaping like a stag and twirling as he landed. After kicking a leg high above his head, he seemed to pause and drift into a backwards somersault directly into a handstand before regaining his upright position. A few spins were done, much with the grace of a ballerina, some in which a leg was raised to contortionist standards. Taking a steps backwards, he tensed as he prepared himself for his next stunt. He surged forward, his feet weightlessly gliding across the floor until he pushed himself into a front flip, landing on folded knees which skidded forward slightly.

His sharp, focused gaze eventually calmed, and he allowed his limbs to relax, panting. He smiled dozily, a feeling of dizziness rushing to his head. "How'd I do..?" he slurred, looking around sheepishly.

Jami watched more people enter the room and greeted them all on her way to the side of the group to let other have a go. In the corner of her eye she saw Larita scribbling something down. If Jami got on the squad what would Owen think of her? Would they have those skimpy outfits? Would He even like that type of thing? That was one thing she was surely not sure of. What was Owen's type!? He had shown some interest in her but she was sure it was just in a best friend way still.

She had to focus on what was happening as of the moment though. That was cheering. What would they even cheer for? There were no teams and it made sense. There were no rivals to AALC, as far as she knew. When Larita said she was in Jami got really excited. She ran over to larita and stood next to her. "This is going to be great! It was a good idea Larita!"

As Lunie did a little routine Jami smiled. He was just so darn cute. There is probably no one in the world who wouldn't love the fluff ball.

yuuki sighed wrung her wrists nervously before stepping forward. in her mind, she tried to imagine the chorus of the song "firework" playing in her head for inspiration as she ran forward, jumped, and propelled herself through a series of forward handsprings. when her feet hit on the final one, she launched herself into the air as hard as she could, while still keeping a fluid movement, and used the momentum to push herself through a double flip with a slight twist in it so that she would land facing in the direction that she had come. carefully, she followed the rhythm of the music in her head as she did a pop/ballet mix dance style through two lines of the song. as soon as the chorus hit "make 'em go oh, oh oh" she did a little leap before spinning quickly in place on one leg. as she spun, she brought her right leg up (spinning clockwise) with the knee bent, and both her upper and both the upper and lower section of her leg parallel to the floor. then, she pulled it straight up into the air against the side of her head.

in a push of momentum to bring her out of the spin, she quickly brought the leg down, and straight out at a 90 degree angel to the ground, arching her back and throwing herself into a kind of barrel turn, her body moving parallel to the floor for a split second. suddenly, she took a running start and launched her self in the air. her wings thrust out from behind her back, and she pulled herself up sharply, into a backwards loop-dee-loop with a little turn, coming quite close to the chair that larita sat in. when she came close to the ground at the center of the gym, she angled her wings very slightly to slow her decent, before pulling them in, dipping forward and landing on her hands with her back facing larita. she pushed through some back springs, then a quick round-off, before finally landing in a forward splits, panting


(wow....that was longer than i anticipated,,,)

Hryshen blinked. She wasn't expecting such a reaction, let alone being drafted as the cheerleading coach. She moved to one of the chairs Larita had pointed out and sat down. Her face showed clear confusion. That expression went away quickly while Lunie preformed. In her opinion he did very well and she clapped quietly. She decided it wasn't horrible being chosen for something she didn't quite sign up for. She looked at Larita, seeing what she would think. She was about to ask her opinion when a girl started her own routine. It was just as good as Lunie's in Hryshen's opinion. Again she clapped quietly at the end of the girl's routine.

At first she was skeptical. Lunie was cute, but at first look he didn't seem very, well cheerleading-like. Under a normal situation, which this hardly was, she would probably have declined the fur-ball when he walked in the door. Nothing personal, it was just the way it went. But at this place, the need for superficial choices was pretty much null, and behind his appearance, Larita had to admit that Lunie's moves were quite good. And his size would make him a perfect flier. She pursed her lips as she considered and nodded at Lunie once he finished. She wanted to keep her final judgement to herself for the moment, but she didn't want to leave his question unanswered. "That was fine, Lunie," she said flatly in order to keep up the appearance of professionalism.

As Jami came and joined her behind the table, Larita turned her head to smile at the girl. "I know, right!" she said in response to the girl's statement. Her voice was high and overly-spirited. She saw Jami as more of an equal now that she was a part of this elite group that Larita was trying to create. "Keep your eyes open," she whispered to the girl and then motioned to the rest of those who were trying out.

Larita narrowed her eyes as the pale girl took her turn. She remembered her now, the girl from the dirt road, the one that gave her the creepy water umbrella and wouldn't help to carry her bags. She crossed her arms over her chest and watched. But she had to admit, the girl had some skill, and she definitely wanted her on the squad. Any differences had to be forgotten, and they were.

"Well," she started once Yuuki was finished and Hryshen had taken her spot. She put her pencil to her lips to show that she was taking this very seriously. "Lunie, Yuuki, you're both in!" She exclaimed, throwing her arms into the air.

"Anyone else?" She looked over to Laura Lane and Deneli, who had both entered but had yet to try out. She raised her eyebrows impatiently.

Embarrassment shortly overcame the feluis, shown plainly by the nervous smile, the way his ears pinned back and the awkward way in which he seemed to forget to pick himself from the ground at all. Larita's words of approval earned a giddish giggle of pride, and he bowed his head before looking to where Yuuki was performing.

His eyes widened in awe. She was better. So much better. She could so much more tricks, her moves were faster, had more rhythm, and most importantly, she had wings. He frowned, almost somewhat bitterly. There were so many people he knew with wings or could fly - why couldn't he have them too? Only half aware, he gingerly stroked the feathers on his collar.

His vacantly unhappy expression was soon replaced with sheer joy at Larita's acceptance. "Oh! Thank you so much!" he giggled, scooting across the floor towards them on all fours. He then sat cross legged nearby the table - most definitely not considering himself regal or worthy enough to sit on a chair.

Jami watched as Larita said they were on the team. No doubt they had nice drills even thought they weren't planned but who could turn down yuuki and lunie, They were to nice! She waited for some one else to go. Not much else she could do. She created a small flame and started playing with it.

Yuuki smiled nervously in thanks, feeling more than a little embarrassed. she pulled her wings in, and quietly remained standing. she looked over towards the other student who had tried out....lunie? he had been very graceful, and his enthusiasm at being accepted was adorable. she couldn't help but smile
