A Short Day (open)

Henry ran his hand back in to his hair and frowned. The fairy was not use to his shortened hair yet, and he had a little heart ache every time he thought about the barber chopping his locks off. His physical shield was gone, he had no mop to hide behind. The only way he could think to deal with his discomfort was to read. Walking around the Ballroom he deemed i a suitable place to read, finding a large window to be warmed by.

Plopping down he looked down at his more formal casual clothes. It was all Ndale's fault of course. If it hadn't been for the guy, Henry would have never gone out and tried to improve his looks...there wasn't anything wrong before though, according to Henry. Either way he had gone and done it. Bought some new clothes to suit his adult look and his short, slightly gelled hair. Opening up his book he began to read, and in the warm sun began to drift off in to sleep.

Risiko peeked into the ballroom before entering it. Nice and big, as ballrooms should be. His room, while not too small was... unimaginative. Windows letting in the outdoors, but the quiet of indoors. Good for thinking, thought at the moment he was just walking around the castle, hoping to avoid... her. Why did it go that way? What was happening with his words?

Caught up in his thoughts, Risiko wandered across the floor without seeing. As he looked up to see the windows, he noticed something who may or may not have been asleep. He stood still and hoped he hadn't made too much noise as to disturb them. Ugh, wooden floors- they did nothing for quiet footsteps. He started to back up as quiet as he could

Henry had happily dosed off by the time Riskio had come in to the ball room. It was pure coincidence when Henry's book fell off his lap and on to the floor below. With a loud bang the book made it's impact startling the fairy awake, then he started to fall himself. "Shit, shit, shit." His wings appeared buzzing feverishly, his arms stretched out in front of him...which was below him as well.

The fairy's wings had slowed him down, but he still had to ready himself for impact. If his back hadn't have been messed up he probably would have had no problem not hitting the floor. Henry was quite happy with his landing though, at least it didn't hurt. His elbows had bent when his hands touched the floor to absorb the impact. Rolling over to his side he let himself plop his butt on the floor. After a deep breath he looked around hoping no one had seen that.

"Uh..." There was someone in the room.

The wings surprised Risiko, and his face showed it. He stopped sneaking out and stood there. Something bugged him about them. They looked... familiar. Or at least how they appeared. Something about wings. His memory hadn't been very good of late.

"..hi" He said, unsure of what else to say in the awkward silence. Thinking about wings wouldn't ease the situation. This other did have good reflexes though. Conversation point?

Or just stand there, that was good too.

"Afternoon..." Was it afternoon? He had only dosed for a moment right? If he had wasted time asleep then that was no good, he had wanted to finished the book by dinner. A bit awkwardly he scratched his head and pointed to the window. "Uhm, you didn't see... uh." Of course he did you idiot.

Shaking his head he picked up his book and headed over to the other male. Might as well since the opportunity was present. In his most proper accent he held out a hand to the guy. "Hello, My name's Henry. Sorry if I startled you." Glasses, were they for reading? He seemed like a reader, and people who read were knowledgeable. This guy must be pretty sharp, yes, he had to be.

Henry himself did not have glasses, but he knew he was a genius, he didn't need glasses to tell himself that, or any one else either. Henry was just that outstandingly genius, it practically radiated from him.

Risiko took the proffered hand and shook it. "I am Risiko Bann" he said. Releasing it, he continued. "No, my fault, we didn't mean to wake you from your cat nap"
The wings suddenly clicked. That girl from the party, with the shiny eyes. Risiko gave Henry a quizzical look. "This may be odd, but do you know uhh..." *snapsnapsnap*"Jamie! Someone named Jamie? She had wings like you do"

Riskio Bann, pretty cool name. "Oh, I am sure it was just coincidence. My book falling did the job." The idea of a nap being a cat nap was good. Cat's were very lazy and slept a lot, but Henry didn't usually take naps, and he did not want to be a cat.

The fairy took in an amused breath, not smiling but obviously entertained a bit. "Oh yes. I do know a Jami, with wings like mine. We come from the same village." How many people had made the connection before? If a lot had Henry didn't know, but it was interesting to see how observation Riskio was. Henry's wings disappeared and he moved so his weight was evenly distributed, making him appear even taller. It wasn't every day the fairy found someone taller than him.

"Oh? Does everyone there have wings?" Risiko asked, turning his head. That would be interesting!.

Although, on second thought, that might be normal. Wings didn't usually go with humans... though both Jami and Henry looked the part, there was room for error. He recalled that Jami's eyes glowed a bit, but he had attributed that to poor lighting afterwards.

"Yes, most fairies of my kind have wings. Unless they have a problem with their magic, which is a rare birth defect." So he saw Jami's wings then? Had he met her when she was out flying? with a chuckle and an amused smile Henry thought of a rebuttal question, "Does everyone wear glasses where you are from? "

Looking the guy over Henry tried to gauge what he was. It was so hard to tell what people were in this school. Everyone looked,what they would call, Human. It was kind of funny to Henry that everything was compared to humans. It was like they were some sort of almighty being, which Henry knew for certain was not true.

Risiko nodded slightly as Henry explained fairies. He laughed slightly at Henry's question, unsure if he was trying to prove a point.
"Hehe, no, only people who can't see well" He thought for a moment before correcting himself. "Well, some people wear contacts or get surgery instead, but again, only people who don't see well in the first place. How do people fix their eyes where you come from?" he asked. "Or do they just live with it?"

He carefully considered the fairy's words. A whole village... full of people who innately used magic, and what's more, not one but Two of them in this school! What excellent fortune! Neither one of them had to completely know what he did!

"Glasses are easy enough to make." Contacts, he had heard about the lenses, but not seen them before, or if he had he hadn't realized it. Surgery to correct eyes seemed a bit dramatic, but Henry did admire human's for their advances every now and then. "Some people do just live with it, I'm sure humans do he same."

Curious Henry asked another question, "do your people have any special features? Or just glasses?" Smiling he slipped his hand in to his left pocket feeling for a metallic bar. Finding it made him feel slightly more comfortable, not that he felt too awkward anymore.  His grip on his book was slipping a bit so he adjusted his hold. There wasn't much else to do but stand around as they talked.

His people! Wasn't that amusing! Humored, Risiko replied "What do you mean by my people? My family, the city I come from, or humans as a whole? Or, nevermind. Most of them are unremarkable, with nothing more to them than what you can see! Or, rather, what would you consider 'special features?'"

Risiko noticed what he thought to be Henry fidgeting. "Oh! I'm sorry! Would you want to sit, or walk around or something?" That was awkward phrasing "Or.. whatever, yes?" he ineloquently finished, unable to think of a correction.

So Riskio's appearance was true to his kind. Having stayed here for a while, Henry had been getting use to the idea that a lot of creatures looked 'human'. "Well I would agree that most humans are unremarkable. I do admire the few though with the brains and creativity to advance humankind."

"Special features could be anything. I assume there is certainly something special about you if you are just a human to come here." He shook his head. They were find to stand there, but if the boy really wanted to move they could, Henry would not suggest it though.

"Oh, you mean that way, yes. We can.. " Risiko thought for a moment. He didn't have anything on him that would demonstrate this easier. "We can occasionally make magical things out of everyday objects. Like ah... " he snapped his fingers a few times, thinking of an easy example "a band that contracts and expands at will. But not everything we make turns out like that, and even when it does, it's not predictable"

Magic things, that was certainly interesting. "Is there a wide range of things you can enchant or are you limited to simple things like making rubber bands?" If all people like Riskio could do is make office equipment then he should probably start trying to make a living in the business world, not staying in an old castle with creatures far beyond this little human's imagination. Then again, the boy had probably come here to expand his abilities, which would imply he is new at his skill, and the experts can make marvelous things.

"When I first started using my skills, I could barely dent a coin, now I can will a metal arsenal of coins together into many shapes that fill the same volume." After taking a moment of thought he added, "But like you said, there is still the unpredictability. If I made those coins into a large hammer and threw it at someone, it is out of my reach, who knows what it'll do."

"Ah...as far as we know, anything will work, we've just had more access to everyday objects." Risiko shrugged. These were really the sort of things he should be exploring, but... you know, nothing was inspiring nowadays.

Henry's...example didn't quite flow with Risiko. He lifted his chin some and furrowed his brows.
"You misunderstand. It's not unpredictability that we don't control what it does, we don't control when it happens. We could spend all day carving, sculpting and assembling, and everything could be enchanted, or nothing could. It is more likely the latter" He added matter of fact-ly.

"Ah, I did misunderstand." Henry made care notes to pay more attention to what Riskio had to say. It seemed with his explanation that the boy's crafted items could be a threat at some point. "So, if you made a toy and it did become enchanted, you would also not be able to choose the enchantment on it?" It really did seem a shame though. If Henry had worked extremely hard on something that might contain magic he would certainly want to choose its purpose.

If the toy chose to be an annoying dumb piece of flying wood then that would be pretty disappointing. But if it could actually perform work, then it would all have seemed worth while. Why put effort into something that doesn't give back toy you?

"It doesn't matter" Risiko replied. He looked over his shoulder for a moment, but didn't know why. Talking about what he could do made him nervous for some reason.

He turned back to Henry. "No, we wouldn't. At least, not as far as I'm aware of" Risiko chuckled at a thought. "It might even be that we've made something fantastic and didn't realize it." He shook his head at the humor.

"You mentioned you have magic though?" Risiko asked, changing the subject. "What does that mean?"

It really did seem a shame. If Henry had made something wonderful and it had the possibility of being something great, he would want to know. That might lead to unnecessary caution though which would mean hording everything he made. Not good. This poor boy, it seemed like a horrible ability, having such uncertainty. "I can fly, and shrink my size. My general, all fairies can do stuff." He pointed to where he fell from to remind Riskio of his wings.

"I also can control metallic objects. It's pretty niffty actually. I can make things too, but they can't do anything special unless I move it around, but there are limitations to that even." Wasn't there a flaw in every story? No tale could be told with out some error or miscalculation. No point in acting like he had no magical flaws. Riskio seemed smart enough to be able to find a flaw.

Though he didn't show it, Henry's metallic ability humored Risiko. Magneto Jr. a voice said unkindly in his head.

Stepping around Henry, he glanced out of the warm window. Nothing seemed to be going on outside, and definitely nothing was happening in the ballroom. He turned back to the fairy. "So, just taking a nap around the castle?" It seemed odd to Risiko that someone might just lounge. Risiko suddenly saw a scene of himself poured on some couch in only a pair of loose fitting fleece bottoms, and the caption Unless they wanted to be caught underneath.

He shuddered for a moment at the picture, and mentally brushed it away. So unlike him!

Frowning at Riskio he shook his head, "I hadn't planed on taking a, 'nap'. I had been hoping to read through my book a bit actually, but I must have gotten pretty comfortable." Watching Riskio's facial expressions he took a turn with the questions. "What where you up today? If lounging around the ballroom is odd, just wandering around here like you have seems pretty weird too."

A nap in the sun while reading. It was a nice thing to do, and so relaxing albeit a bit disorientating when you finally got up.

Risiko chose not to look at Henry while answering, but instead slightly to the right. It seemed easier to speak that way, and it was hard enough considering how his hands had started to fidget at his sides. His fingers scratched his palms as he answered "Just walking around the castle. A bit of exercise, a bit of being bored and looking for something to do" The sun must have been pouring in the windows, as it was feeling slightly warmer now.

Henry went to look Riskio in the eyes, but the guy wasn't looking at him. Odd behavior it seemed. The human did seem to be uncomfortable or something. Had he been up to no good when Henry had woken up? His answer sounded reasonable but only because Henry knew how stale life could get here.

"Bored? Could I interest you with a few ideas? There are loads of books I could suggest you to in the library or may a visit to the mainland. That's always interesting..." Henry himself had not gone very often at all actually, but the woman in the Tavern seemed a bit too friendly to him.

Scchhhmmmm.... called out on a lie. Thinkfastthinkfastthinkfast....

"hahaha" Risiko laughed awkwardly. He shrugged, as if it were no big deal. "It's not so much as I have nothing to do, just nothing that I want to do. Always plenty of work." he said, and stuck his hands in his pockets.

"So!" he started again, and walked around to the window. He gave a brief glance out wards before turning back to Henry. "We're no longer students apparently. Any idea of what you're doing now?"
