Feluis Language Empty Feluis Language

Post  Lunasola Tue May 17, 2011 1:44 pm

I thought I should put the basics of Lunie’s language here, just for future reference.

Lunie’s language is composed mostly out of vowels, with a few soft consonants such as: h, s, r, z, m, n, l, w and y.

The letter ‘k’ is traditionally an aggressive letter, pronounced as a hissing noise at the back of the throat. It can be added to almost any word to make it sound threatening.

On the contrary, the feluis are quite partial to 'ee' noises, commonly making nicknames ending with 'ee'.

There are also words with two opposite meanings - its definition is purely dependant on how the speaker expresses it. For this reason, sarcasm in Feluis is impossible.

Sample:
English - Feluis
(notes)

Hello - Aai
(the longer the ‘aaa’ bit, the more friendly)

Goodbye - Eaa
(reverse pronunciation of ‘Aai’. the langer the ‘aaa’ bit, the more friendly)

Yes - Iss
(can also be used as a term of approval or general goodness)

No - Eh
(can have ‘k’ added to it to make Keh - a sharper and much more urgent no)

Me, Myself, I - Ni

You - Oos
You - Toos (plural)

The Three States

Sen - The state of being

Son - The state of doing

San - The state of willing or wanting

Examples:

Sen oos? - How are you?
(‘Aai’ can be added to the front to make Aaisen oos, as an introductory term, or just to make it friendly)

Son oos? - How did you do that?
(depends on context)

San oos? - What do you want?
(depends on context)

Sen-Ni - I am

Son-Ni - I do

San-Ni - I will/want

----
More Terms

Sad - Opah + Happy
(meaning depends on if it is said happily or sadly)

Beware - Uarr + Surprise

Example Sentences

Hello, my name is Lunie.
Aaisen-ni Lunie.

Are you feeling happy?
Sen opah (t)oos?

Will expand in future.

Feluis Names

Feluis don't have last names, as they are rather unnecessary with their low populations.

Their names are based on several circumstances; what the parents want the child to grow up to be, something that happened near their time of birth, or basically just their personal preference. Most names do have a meaning though.

Their names are rather long, so it is not uncommon for them to grant nicknames, although this usually doesn't persist past adulthood.

Examples:

Lunasola - Single Moon
Dezola - Two Suns
Tericore - Pure Soul
Sendubbio - Being Without Doubt
Fieratore - Prideful Heart
