It's getting a bit dark

"hehe.. well.. I guess" he giggled. "so what kindof stuff do you read?" he asked innocently.

"Action. Romance. Yaoi," she listed, checking her mental catalogue of books. Those were the main genres. Her favourite genres.

"Ahh.. I see... " he blushed slughtly pink. "Raye is that kind of person.." he said with a small smile.

"That kind of person...?" She had a pretty good idea what he was talking about, but she wanted confirmation.

"mmhmm..." he grinned slightly, not explaining.
he didn't want to be rude, and he had a feeling she knew what he meant anyway. "Should I be worried?" he asked slightly teasing.

She chuckled. She was right. "Not you. Maybe your brother, though." Her grin widened.

"Aww.. what- am I not cute enough?" he pouted a bit huffily, putting his hands on his hips.

She pinched is cheek in that annoying way an aunt would when meeting their niece or nephew for the first time in a while. "You're cute, very cute. But I don't do cute." And she was back to her dramatics. "Somehow you must manage without my affections," she wailed, pressing the back of her hand against her forehead with a grin.

"hmm.." he pouted further, his voice almost whining. "Are you sure i can't change your mind?" he asked his brow slightly furrowed, but there was still a joking air to him.

"Sorry, dear Himitsu. Shae is the only one for me. He saved me from the evil, villainous books! Nothing shall ever change my deep-rooted affection to your brother." She was really laying it on thick now.

"Shae..." he said the name, it being the first time he'd heard it before frowning again. "hmm.. " he could kinda tell she wasn't being serious.. ok well it wasn't exactly HARD to tell. "well even rooted affections can branch out.. right?" he asked, grinning ever so slightly.

"You're adamant for my affections, aren't cha, hon?"

She pretended she hadn't seen or heard him taste his brothers name on his tongue. Did he go by a different name before...?

"hmmhmm" he giggled slightly. "Are you adamant i can't have them?" he asked still grinning ever so slightly.

She shrugged non-non-committally.

he pouted again, determined to get an answer out of her. "Hey, Nee-san? is that a yes or no?" he asked insistently..

"I don't do real affections," she said monotonously. "I honestly can't answer you."

"hmm.." he asked, face falling slightly, then suddenly giggling. "heehee.." he winked, expression changing back to a happy grin. "Don't worry.. I'm only joking around.." he laughed. "Sorry..." he shrugged smiling sheepishly.

She shook of her dreaary mood and gave Himutsi a weak smile. "Sorry about that mood swing. I've been a little unstable in that department since he died."

"hmm?" he looked around, slight concern on his features. "Oh.." he looked down not sure what to say. "Do you want to talk about it?" he asked hesitantly.

"Not really..."

She walked in silence for a few minutes, staring up at the sky with her hands shoved deep inside her pockets.

"We met about twenty years ago. He had just moved to Japan from China and joined the Kendo club I was in. I was shocked that there was another Wolf Jinn. There were Cat Jinn and Snake Jinn and Bird Jinn in the Kendo club, but no other wolves. In fact, I don't recall having seen a Wolf Jinn for over a hundred years before he appeared."

he just listened, his face neutral but with slight sympathy as he walked along side her.

"So.. he.. he was like you?" he asked, not sure what a jinn was..

"Yeah, like me," she agreed. "In more than just species."

He was silent for a moment.. then finally spoke, after at least half a minute. "I don't.. think there is anyone else like me... not even Onii-san..."

"I couldn't imagine being the only one of my kind. It must be hard, ne?"

He thought about it.. Was it hard?
He hadn't really asked himself that before. Was it hard being the only one?

"I.. I don't know.. I suppose not.. Because I wasn't always..." he stopped talking.
He didn't like thee kind of topics.
At all.

"I'm used to it." he finished, his tone was almost short as he did- making it a little easier to tell that he wasn't comfortable talking about it.
