Not Quite A Stay In Bed Day Empty Not Quite A Stay In Bed Day

Post  Raye-Majick Wed May 09, 2012 7:59 pm

Today was a stay-in-bed day for Raye. But, seeing as she lacked a bed to stay in, she had slugged around the castle looking for a nice quiet place to sit and do nothing for the day.

After two rounds of the castle, she had decided on one of the large studies.

And so she sat curled up in a corner of one of the large couches with a sketchbook on her lap and a bottle of water at her side. Lazy days usually involved something to do to keep her hands occupied. Sometimes she'd flick through her photo album or read a volume of manga. Today she had decided that she wanted to draw.

But what to draw?

The pages of the sketchbook rustled as she flicked through them, looking back at the sketches that already occupied the thick white pages. There were a lot of still-life sketches of different objects she had found around the castle. There were a couple of landscapes. Some from around the island and others from Japan. A lot of the pages, though, were portraits. Portraits of her friends and family.

With a quiet hum, she flicked to a clean page and began drawing. Another portrait. One of herself this time.

The studies were rarely a place that Solasta ever dropped by, if ever at all. The idea of studying itself was laughable. What could a few pages of textbook theory do in comparison to physical, hands-on experience? That was the only true way of learning, not trying to understand that ridiculous text that was the world of English vocabulary. It was all hogwash.

That very prospect didn't stop her, however, from wandering around the room anyway in complete boredom. Maybe there would be some ungrateful nut to bother and keep her company before she found another stupid way to waste time.

And luckily, there was. The perfect one too, one she hadn't pestered for too long now. Guessing that the girl hadn't noticed her presence, she kept quiet (which took a significant amount of effort, she found, given her loud, boisterous demeanour), tip-toeing around behind her. She was drawing..? Well of course, she'd taken Art last semester, so it shouldn't have came as a surprise. In fact, Solasta would proudly remember that picture that had been drawn of her. Though she couldn't quite see what it was from this distance.

Finally, she was close enough. Without warning, she'd reach forward - and attempt to grapple her arms around Raye's head in a sort of clinging hug. "Raye! Where yo' been darhlink--!" she cried, cackling to herself.

Slowly the portrait was coming together. It looked less like a set of lines and more like a person with every stroke of the pencil.

Her tongue slid between her teeth and rested on her lips in concentration as she tried to tackle the nose. Noses were always the hardest thing to draw for her. Especially if she was trying for a realistic look. But Raye had far too many manga inspired sketches and pieces of fan-art in her books. She needed to try other styles.

The Jinn yelped loudly when the arms slid around her and pulled her backwards, the pad and pencil falling from her lap. Her hands shot up to grasp at the arm.

"Dammit, Sol, don't do that," she cried out, slumping back against the girl, all panic leaving her body. She had been smelling (and avoiding) Jinn around the castle for months and it had her in a blind panic. Jinn weren't know to get along terribly well with each other. Especially wolf Jinn. She had been almost expecting one of them to jump out and try to kill her.

"Do you want to give me a heart attack?" The small smile curving onto her lips belied the accusation in the question.

Not Quite A Stay In Bed Day Empty Re: Not Quite A Stay In Bed Day

Just the reaction that Solasta had been hoping for - that sort of terror she saw moments before killing prey. Of course, she hadn't intended to murder poor Raye on the spot, at least, not yet. And thankfully, the girl hadn't even retaliated.

A harsh cackle left her lips as she drew her arms back, releasing her hold on the poor jinn. "Nah," she scoffed, sliding around the arm of the couch to sit herself next to her, not missing the hint of a grin on her victim's face. "Not when dere are funner ways a' killin'."

An ambiguous smirk sneaked onto her face, making no attempt to confirm whether the comment was serious or not. However, after looming over the other girl's shoulder, peering intrusively at her little sketchpad, the topic was thankfully averted from potential carnage.

"Who di heck is dat?" she snorted, pointing at the half-sketched drawing as if it were cat vomit, her eyes leering with the slightest hint of disapproval.

She shook her head with an amused smile. "You're definitely not KIRA material." She could almost picture Solasta with a Death Note.

Immediately she picked up her sketchbook began sketching on a clean space on the page. Solasta would make a pretty good Shinigami. She could definitely see her pointing randomly and killing off whatever poor soul she had pointed at.

"It's going to be me when I finish it."

"Kira?" she echoed, confusion visibly crossing her expression. Having not even half a clue of who Raye had referred to, she was almost about to drop the thought completely until another idea arrived at her mind. A small smirk appeared, and she reached to nudge Raye's shoulder 'gently'. 'Gently', as in stab at her drawing arm in an indirect attempt to knock it off course. "Is Kira your boyfrieend? Ai? Aiii?"

She would then peer way too closely at her incomplete drawing, her red eyes narrowing as she assessed the drawing up and down. She hummed thoughtfully for a moment, even trying to tilt her head in at different angles, just to get the complete viewing experience. She then nodded to Raye professionally.

"Ya look oogleh."

Raye snorted a laugh. Boyfriend?

"If I had a boyfriend, would I be sat here drawing myself?" If she had a boyfriend, she'd be spending time with him, not lurking in a forgotten corner of the castle buried in her drawings.

She made a quiet noise, pulling the pencil away from the page and giving Solasta a sour look. She didn't want to draw a line across the page and with Sol nudging her like that, she was seriously close to doing just that.

The Jinn gave another laugh. "Thanks for the vote of confidence." She lifted the sketchbook and batted at the girl with it. "It'll look better when I'm done, honest."

"...Well, ai. Why not?" she shrugged, either not seeing Raye's perspective, or not understanding why having a boyfriend would stop her from pursuing artistic hobbies.

The junkai merely sneered at her companion's sour look, purposely intending to annoy her. In fact, she'd half hoped that the jerk of her hand would wind up in scribbling some moustache on her sketch.

Ducking away slightly as the sketchbook was batted at her her grin twisted into a sort of professional frown, as she reached out both hands for the pencil and the sketchbook. "Give it heah! I will show you what a real mastahpiece looks like."
