Searching for Everly!

Valentin's brow remained furrowed even when Zerda laughed and offered a smile, because that smile looked forced. He wanted to ask what his friend couldn't remember, but realized it was a stupid question before he opened his mouth. He filed the subject away in his mind to think on a way to bring up and ask about later.

He eventually returned the smile, trying not to make his look forced either, but he wasn't sure if the effect was managed. Plucking up the locket gingerly by its chain he used the un-bloodied end of his scarf to pat some of the moisture off of it, before standing and tucking it into his pocket beside the pearl. The scarf was wrapped loosely around his hips and knotted on the side because he didn't really want to drape the thing over his neck now that it had blood and spit on it.

When the breeze carried Zerda's light-hearted threat back to him, he chuckled, though it sounded rather nervous, and hurried after his friend. He paused as he caught up to him, confused by Zerda's sudden frantic behaviour. Coming up beside him, he slipped his hand into his friend's and offered his fingers a small comforting squeeze.

"You alright?" The question was beginning to feel repeated, but he couldn't contain his concern.

As Zerda was lost in his thoughts of this strange feeling he didn't realize how close Valentin was getting. Though he didn't mind the closeness of friends as he used to live in a den with nine others, but the sudden creep up was enough to scare the little fox. He felt the hand grasp his and he looked up at the faun and flashed a blush. Realizing his sudden redness he shook his head and turned away. Why did he just blush? It wasn't like he was growing fond of the faun ((XD)) like that. He was just a friend anyways. Zerda turned back and smiled at Valentin then as if on a whim he busted out laughing with an unknown cause to the reason why. He held his sides as he laughed so hard it was enough to knock the wind out of him. He stood strait once more and gripped his friends hand tight as he nearly fell over. "Ah Valentin...I think i'm starving and becoming....what is it called...hysterical." He said as he chuckled a little.

It was a sure thing that his hunger was getting the best of him as he found himself listening to the disruptive sounds of his stomach. "Well, I guess I'll tell you everything when we get some yum yums in my tum tum!" He said as he began walking back to the castle once more with Valentin in hand. He was happy he could open up to Valentin, but it wouldn't hurt to find others that he could before friends with. Till then though the food called him.

The forced smile broke into a very real one, Valentin being very amused by Zerda's blush. When Zerda's hysterics proved contagious, the faun found himself laughing along. He felt Zerda's grip on his hand tighten and made sure his arm was steady while his friend re-found his balance.

"Again?? Alright, let's see if anyone's in the kitchens then." He nodded but really wasn't sure if there would be anyone there. He rarely ventured into the kitchen unless he knew it was meal time. When he got the urge to snack he was content to chomp on some leaves anyway. But! He was sure they could figure something out! How hard could it be?

His ears batted forwards at the muffled rumbling and he chuckled again. "Deal."

As they passed over the grasses running in line with the cliff-side, they eventually completed the trek back to the castle, and Valentin led them in through one of the closer side doors and through the maze of halls towards the kitchens.
