Aesis, Abenzu and Mr. Owen Mueller; You have been summoned to the headmistress' office.

The corridors resonated with the sound of the announcement. The headmistress' soft voice floated in invisible waves through the air above their heads, seeming to come from the stones themselves. "Aesis, Abenzu and Mr. Owen Mueller, please come see me in my office," the disembodied voice ordered. The third name seemed almost an after thought, and for good reason. She would most likely need the services of the ruckarl boy.

In her office, Everly sat thoughtfully behind her desk, pouring over a pile of papers. They were the student files, and on top lay side-by-side copies of Abenzu and Aesis. They had both been at the academy a decent amount of time now, and the headmistress regretted that she had not spoken with them yet. If that would even be possible, of course.

She had arranged three victorian-style chairs facing her from the opposite side of her own desk. The best word to describe them would be fancy. They had white cushions with gold stitching and mahogany stained trim framing. Matching wooden arms sprouted from behind, extending forward with a curve that was the perfect shape for a weary elbow. The arms came to an end by curling under themselves and reconnecting with the trim.

Arms folded on top of her desk, the headmistress waited patiently for the summoned students to arrive.

Abenzu was conveniently hanging out in the vestibule. For the past ten minutes since it had entered the large room, Abenzu had had it's face practically plastered to the large fish tank. Some of the fish had looked pretty tasty with their many colors but Abenzu had tried to break the glass but failed mightily. After an extra five minutes, it finally peeled itself away from the tank and was on it's merry way out.

That's when it heard the announcement. Abenzu shivered and glanced around, wondering where it came from. It perked it's head at the mention of it's own name. 'In trouble?' It thought worridly. Abenzu looked down one hallway, "Ahfish?" Abenzu ran down the hall, disregarding many of the doors, having a feeling they weren't the right ones.

It didn't take long for Abenzu to make a full circuit around the castle and back to the vestibule. It looked up at the stairs and started to climb them. 'Maybe up there?...' Abenzu reached the top of the stairs and went to one door. It opened it and peered inside, "Kheto?...ey ahfish, nyie?"

The noise of the announcement woke him up, and Owen immediately looked around in panic. Was he in trouble? He'd sworn he hadn't misbehaved, at least, not intentionally, or recently. But the other two names were recognised - at the very least - as people who didn't speak English quite so well. This, combined with how his name had been said with both his title and his sirname, gave him a sense of self importance - something he didn't feel very often.

But he'd been so comfy sleeping in his dorm, and having to trail all the way to the office on crutches was such an inconvenience. He supposed he had no choice though.

The journey was long, and Owen found himself almost breathless, and when he arrived, he could see the small shape of Abenzu peering within the room. "Yeah, tha's the office," he remarked dully, pushing his way past the smaller student.

He saw Everly sitting at the table, and he immediately felt rather embarassed, as he often did in the face of authority. He had nothing to feel guilty for, he knew he'd done nothing, so why was he nervous? Brushing past these thoguhts, he moved forward to invite himself a seat on the furthest right. A large breath of relief escaped him as he settled into the chair. It was safe to say it was probably the fanciest chair he'd ever sat on - heck, he could probably pass of as royalty right now. A glance was given to Everly. "Sup." Such an eloquent conversation starter.

((oh, and forgot to mention, owen is most definately in human form xP ))

"Aesis...I'm Aesis..." He wondered why his name was called, and he decided to check things out. He put his staff in its compactable form beforehand, placed it in his bag, and minutes later absentmindedly bit on it as he straddled down the hallway. A small piece of one of his incisors chipped off when his teeth hit the metal.
"Eeyech.." He spat out the tooth-piece and threw it on the floor.

He glanced down the hallway, distantly seeing a dark-haired person. "Maybe that's where I'm needed.." he thought aloud.

He then walked towards the person, seeing it was Owen. "Hi..." Aesis gave a slight wave, with two fingers.

Everly looked up from her desk as the students arrived one after the other. She smiled awkwardly, one hand folded over the other. "Yes," she said in response to Abenzu's query. Though it was more in response to interpreting Owen's interaction with Abenzu, since she did not understand his words herself. "Please, sit down," she lifted and hand and motioned to the empty chair next to the one that Owen had just taken. She cleared her throat nervously and placed her hand back on top of the the other.

Tilting her head towards Owen, she squinted her eyes. "Sup?" she repeated, raised intonation showing her obvious confusion at the greeting. But before she could say more, Aesis appeared in the doorway. "Oh good," she said, releasing a held breath. "We're all here, then. Please, Aesis, take a seat." She chuckled, "Oh sorry," and lifted her hand once more to indicate the other extra seat.

Before she brought her hand back to its resting place on top of the other, she picked up a tiny hourglass that was sitting on her desk. She didn't flip it over but rather just moved it to a new place for no apparent reason other than to occupy her hand. This was her fault, she told herself. She had taken the initiative to call them all in here, and now she had to figure out what to do with them. She took a breath and looked up, smiling at the group of students before her. She waited for them to settle down before she started their meeting.

Abenzu flinched when Owen answered it's question. Having not noticed Owen till he spoke, it wasn't prepared to be answered from behind. Abenzu watched Owen head into the room then recognized who he was. Abenzu's face lit up and it trotted in next to Owen's chair. The look on it's face was akin to a kid receiving a puppy.

Abenzu looked at the women behind the desk. It looked at the chair she motioned to, it stared at it with wide eyes. Abenzu had never seen such an elaborate chair. It climbed carefully onto the seat, sitting crosslegged. It then noticed there was another student. It looked back at the new boy which Abenzu hadn't met yet. The green hair was pretty but no rainbow. Abenzu waved enthusiastically, though, in greeting. "Khetoooo."

Owen looked up as Aesis entered, and the elf's awkward wave was returned much more casually. He would offer a word of two as a greeting, but his mouth refused to move, still cautious of what to say in the presence of the headmistress. If he was in trouble, he wouldn't want to say anything that would worsen the case against him. The headmistress didn't seem to be particularly sharp though - perhaps she wasn't telling them off at all? He decided to play it safe though.

All the while, he was trying to keep aware of things he would need to translate. Although what he would actually hear would be the different language, their words would be subconsciously translated to English in his mind,. It was difficult, but not impossible, to tell whether or not they were actually speaking English. The 'hello' from Abenzu, he felt, didn't need to be explained to the headmistress. It was a mere greeting. He wanted to relax in the chair, but his spine remained rigid as he awaited Everly to explain just what they were meeting for.

"Seat." The simple word somewhat tingled in Aesis' tongue.

He pronounced it slowly, "Seeeet", trying to reconcile the word in any familiar thoughts on what the command Everly said had meant.

He watched Everly gesture towards a chair, and he sat.

In elf, he said, "What am I here for? Did I..do something wrong?" He began pondering whether he was framed, or if he really did do something wrong...

...or maybe, it was his conscience.

Hah. Give it a rest. All your troubles aren't my fault. All I do, is help you get through it.

The tone of his conscience's voice sounded as if he was hiding something.

Aesis glanced around the room, his eyes falling on Abenzu. "What is that..?" He said, pointing rudely at Abenzu.

Abenzu's antics reminded the headmistress of a small child, and she smiled warmly at his enthusiastic wave, and rightfully interpreted his speech as some sort of greeting. She then looked to Aesis as he spoke, and her smile fell. She didn't understand anything that the young elf said, and for some reason she felt guilty about this.

"Well, I suppose you know why I've called you all in." she started. She tried to look at each student as she spoke, but her gaze tended to stay on Owen the most. Perhaps it was because he was the only person in the room that could understand her fully. But one look at their faces and she wasn't so sure that they were aware of the meeting's purpose.

She placed a delicate hand in front of her mouth and cleared her throat, she lowered that same hand forward and held it, palm up in the air as she spoke. "Well, first I must apologize for the fact that I haven't met you all yet. But it has come to my attention that you, Mr. Aesis and Mr. Abenzu, cannot well, speak English. I wonder, how are your assignments coming? Are you making friends okay?" Her mouth formed a small, concerned frown.

Her eyes widened as if she had suddenly remembered something important. "Oh! Mr. Mueller, will you be so kind as to translate for me?"

Abenzu blinked as the newer boy pointed at it. Did it do something wrong? It tilted it's head, trying to understand the boy's language. What tongue was he speaking in? It wasn't English, nor was it Gnommish. After a while, Abenzu looked as if, had it been a machine, it's head was smoking. It gave up trying to understand, feeling somewhat dizzy.

Abenzu looked up as a language it DID know was spoken. "Mitter? Nenru Mitter?" It looked at her a moment, having never been taught any titles like mister, misses, and the such. Abenzu then smiled. "Nyie~. Teehja-paasons choro wah pahss. Furendz?...Dehni furend...... Spahdaa-paason hoqu."

"No idea," he shrugged to the elf's question, knowing it was hardly reassuring at all, yet not caring much. Besides, Everly had started speaking now, so Owen tuned in to her instead. Every time her pale blue eyes skimmed over him (which had been a few more times than he had preferred), he found his own gaze lingering elsewhere, unwilling to make contact. To say that he felt uncomfortable in the face of the highest authority in the academy would be an understatement.

At her request, Owen found himself nodding brashly, despite the knots being tied in his stomach. He could hold an upfront arrogant attitude for as long as he wanted, but upon bearing the weight of responsibility, he'd shrivel like a leaf in the desert. It was almost as if he expected his voice to suddenly go haywire on him, his powers of understanding to mysteriously vanish, or whatever other unfortunate mishap his mind could conjure. Heck, half of what Everly had said had already slipped from his mind, and he found his jaw hanging apishly as he scrawled his memory for something to translate.

Luckily, it seemed Abenzu already knew what Everly had said, which not only baffled him, but relieved him at the same time. But then he frowned - it seemed his own powers struggled to translate this one. It probably had something to do with the way it'd swap languages repeatedly throughout, and probably the fact that the English words it was speaking were blatantly mispronounced to the point where it didn't even translate as English to his mind. He found himself gaping in confusion a lot longer than he probably should have, and he nervously looked to Everly, as if anticipating her to be impatiently waiting on him. "Umm..." He unnecessarily cleared his throat. "Yes... teach passions... person... said I pass..." His brows knitted together in perplexity. "...D-dehni? Dehni, um, friend... mean... spider..." As he trailed off, he realised that even he himself didn't even realise what he was talking about, much less the clueless headmistress.

It was around that point he realised Aesis was still there, and probably hadn't understood anything Everly had said. Why was translating so much work? Luckily, she'd been easier to comprehend than the gremlin-thing. "She wants to know if you're okay with... friends and stuff. And classes. 'Cuz you don't talk English." Curt, but he'd hoped that he got the point across.

Aesis glanced at the others. He flt left out due to the language barrier, and frowned. It was then that he heard Owen say 'spider', and he looked around the room in case it would bite him.

Afterwards, he heard Owen translating Everly's previous inaudible statement. He then wondered what spiders had to do with assignments. He replied ''Friends? I know Lizzie...and I think my assignments are fine. The teachers' opinions on how I do the assignments is questionable, though...''

Owen was relieved that there had been little confusion in translating the elfish language - unlike his earlier bafflement with the gnome. He readily forwarded this back to the headmistress. "He has a friend called, uh, Lizzie.... And he's fine about the assignments..." He raised an eyebrow as he continued. "...But he's not sure his teachers think the same."

The headmistress nodded encouragingly at Owen as he seemed to struggle through the translating process. She furrowed her brow and tilted her head in an attempt to show how carefully she was listening. The last thing she wanted was for him to feel put on the spot by her. But in this attempt, it was possible that she was going overboard, showing too much attention so that the boy would not feel abandoned.

"Okay," she said as they all had seemed to finish speaking. So friends, no problem. I'm glad to hear it." She smiled awkwardly and straightened her back. "But assignments," she nodded once again, this time her expression exaggerated concern. "That's what I'm worried about then. Please, Mr. Mueller, ask them if they would feel more-- comfortable-- if they were provided with English tutoring. I would be happy to spend the extra time with them myself. If they want it, of course."

She was hesitant to force extra class time on the students, but at the same time felt as if, as a responsible teacher, English should be a part of their lessons.

Abenzu tilted it's head. Tutoring? It did get frustrated when people didn't understand it. It looked down, a hand holding it's chin in thought. It remembered it's parents efforts to teach it English. It was unsure, but it thought that maybe the headmistress could help. "Ionoji, nuf seef mnuy?"

Again, Abenzu didn't seem to need a translation. Owen couldn't hep but raise an eyebrow. If it could understand her so well, why couldn't it just speak it? It was practically the same thing, right? "He says, 'Maybe, are you good at helping'?" He certainly didn't intend on imitating that silly, childlike way it seemed to form words. He hoped he was right in referring to the creature as 'he', because frankly, he didn't have a clue.

He looked at Aesis. "She's asking if you want tutoring. To learn English. And help, and like.. stuff."

Aesis glanced at Owen. Would he really need tutoring?

He pulled out his English-Elf dictionary from his sack, pointing at the front cover. Aside from pronunciations, he figured he'd be fine, as long as he didn't forget the book in important places.

"I don't think I need tutoring...Although, I'm not sure...sure." Aesis said, shrugging after the phrase.

"Can I go now?" He said, already getting out of his seat.

Seemingly deciding on his own he could, he left the room, finding that certain event a waste of time...

Though, most of the time at the Academy he was bored, so this was something for a change.

'Wasn't much though.' He thought.

He walked down the hallway, yawning every so often.
