Through the theater doors, and what Risiko found there

Risiko entered the theater through the lobby. What a lovely one it was at that, such a atmosphere of elegance and class. The lobby was pleasant enough, but Risiko's interests were in the larger main area. As he opened the doors, he noticed the dining tables and stage set. It was darkened, as no one was using it, but light enough to see shapes and some details of the tables. Navigating them, Risiko made his way to the stage, where the scene was that of a mausoleum. Risiko climbed the stage to get a closer look, before seeing what interesting pieces might lay backstage.
Once onstage, he looked back. What a feeling it would be, to be performing, and to have all those eyes trained only on you! Seeing no one else there, he started moving to a melody in his head. Just a little improvised dance, not much, something Gene Kelly or Fred Astaire might do to warm up.

Audi had finally found some free time from her studying to indulge in her hobby of tailoring. Well. She had to, really, because she had felt guilty, having left the thoughtful gift she'd gotten from her roommate - a supply of fabrics - to rot while she explored the new realms of her magic. Her magic. How wonderful it sounded.

Still, she pushed that thought out of her mind and tried to focus on the task at hand, which was ruffling though the dusty costumes hanging upon the racks backstage of the theater. There were all sorts of clothing, dresses, coats, wigs and boots of all colors and shapes. While Audi had not the audacity to rip them to pieces to steal bits and reuse them in the clothing she made, she liked browsing through them in search of inspiration for her designs. Most of the clothing was too big for her, but she couldn't resist pulling on some of it sometimes.

She picked a large, purple, wide-brimmed hat with an elaborate decoration made of fake jewels and moth-bitten feathers and placed it carefully on the top of the blonde wig covering her head. Perfect.

With loud, clanking steps, she made her way towards the mirror... wait, which direction was it again? This direction, she was pretty sure... the wig's hair covering all of her face save for the pink tip of her nose prevented her from seeing she went onto the stage instead. Her movements were clambering and awkward, the blue dress's crinoline creaking and tapping against the floor as she walked, long red cloak trailing behind her. The fur on her forearms, which were now outstretched and waving in front of her to avoid bumping into anything, seemed to be forming rhombuses, separated by the fishnet stockings she had pulled on. Where was that damned mirror?

Risiko was in the middle of a box pattern as the figure came into his peripherals. He let out a short exclamation as he jumped back involuntarily, near a foot high.
Remembering the encounter with Mr. Sharp and the offense take there, he tried to quickly recover.
"oh, ah, sorry sorry" he said quickly, straightening. "I was just startled."
'I suppose if they have a plant-librarian, why not have a.. cloth?.. dramatist?' Risiko thought, trying to look comfortable and not at all surprised.

The theater was empty and peaceful at all times, so Audi anything but expected a sudden shout. She gave a shriek herself, jumping back, not even hearing the following apology. Stumbling, she cursed herself for her frightfulness - was she not supposed to be changed now? Humans didn't freak out like that. Not the kind of humans she wanted to be like. Still, there were more urgent matters at hand, as with the dress and the cloak, there was just too much cloth around her legs. She tripped over it and her tail, giving another squeak as she fell onto her back.

She then proceeded to flail and squirm gracelessly, kicking and waving her arms, trying to free herself and achieving only getting wrapped up in the fabrics even more.

"Ah, mmm, er, ah, lll, oh dear" said Risiko as his arms went up, fingers extending forwards as he moved as if to help, then retracting as his arms did upon hesitating. The most awkward and uncomfortable of grimaces was on his face. He went through his hand motions several times before becoming decisive.
"Ah, here, um, I can get that if you hold still a moment" He said, cautiously sidestepping the flailing limbs, standing a good meter down and sideways of the strange collection of struggling cloths. His arms well behaved, close and up, but his hands and fingers were still undecided between hesitant and helpful.

Finally the voice reached her, and for a moment, she stilled with her arms and legs in midair. Oh. It was some guy, and he wanted to help. Fine, then. She let her limbs drop to the floor and laid there waiting, a cocoon of fabrics. How good that he was there, if not for him, she probably would have to chew through the clothes to get out... although, if he had not been there, she would not become trapped in the first place. So... it kind-of evened out.

Audi threw back her head a little to move the wig and peered up at him curiously with one shiny, big, deep brown eye from between the fake golden locks.

Seeing the eye, Risiko smiled. "Yes, hello" he said, reaching down and grabbing it's hand and trying to pull it up.
"Oh, come on, don't make me do all the work. I'm not that strong" he said

She smiled slightly at the greeting. Well, thank goodness that he was nice, and not somebody that would actually be worthy of getting startled about...
Grasping the hand with hers, she made an effort to find footing and push herself up and managed to lift off of the floor a bit. Her legs were too deeply entangled to stand, though. With a muffled 'eek', she tugged hard on the helpful hand and shot out her other to grab at it as well, trying to prevent herself from falling back down.

"Shoot!" Risiko exclaimed as he tripped forwards, not expecting the sudden pull. He tripped over the extra cloths and fell (predictably) forwards. He quickly set his arms out to either side of the cloth person.
"Rg!" he grunted, 'ugh!' he thought as his arms jarred, extended, onto the wood of the stage to stop a collision. His glasses fell onto the wig.
"Sorry" Risiko gritted, arms shaking from the sudden effort.
((Fun fact! I wrote this both ways, not falling and falling. I took the more-predictable-but-just-as-plausable path, as it was both written better and progressed the scene better))

When instead of hoisting her up, he fell forward, Audi couldn't help a squeak of fright. She let go of his hand and tried rolling out of the way, but the clothes wrapped around her prevented her from moving... but thankfully, the man had managed to stop himself from crashing onto her. A sigh of relief escaped her. "Is okay." she mumbled, embarrassed. Maybe just trying to remove the costume would be best. She reached for the buttons of the cloak underneath her chin and began to undo them.

Risiko sat up, trying to use his arms as little as possible. Everything was blurry. He looked around, and felt his immediate area to see if they landed there. As they were not, he decided not to stand until he could find them. Looking next to him, he saw the cloth person...Undressing?
"What are you doing?" he asked hurriedly. The people at this place were weird enough without this.

What he was feeling around for remained a mystery to Audi, her sight being partially obscured by the wig's hair. In slight annoyance, she blew at a strand, trying to get it out of the way, uncovering some of her muzzle. Once she was done with the buttons, she let the cloak slip down to the floor. That was out of the way, at least. Why was he still on top of her, anyway...? She peered up at him suspiciously.
"Undressing." she explained in a tone you'd use to talk to a slow child. Placing her palms on the floor, she tried to crawl out backwards from underneath him, the task being difficult due to her legs still being entangled in fabric.

Deciding that it would do what it did, Risiko rolled over and sat up, feeling for his glasses, still. No crunch, good sign. Where would they be?
"Have you seen my cheaters at all?" he asked, still feeling around, trying not to look at the person too much (modesty and all that). "We, ah, don't want them to get stepped on."
"Oh, and ah, I don't mean to pry, but what kind of being are you? Some sort of cloth golem or poltergeist?"

The cloak was thankfully left behind on the floor as she moved, so she was free of that much at least. Her nose scrunched up in confusion at what he'd said. What were 'cheaters'? As she pushed herself back, her hand stumbled upon something, and she took hold of it and lifted it to her face to see it. A pair of glasses, it seemed. She never really understood what humans wore those for.

In answer to his latter question, she reached to remove the hat and wig off of her head, placing it to her side, and gave him a smile. Cloth golem, really... but, hmm... maybe it was a thought worth considering... but, there would be time for that later. She shook her head to be rid of the thought, then holding up her find, she asked, "Are those... cheaters?"

Risiko's eyes went wide with surprise at removing the wig and hat.
"Oohh" he said understandingly "you're a rat-person, not a cloth-person. I get it"
He squinted as she held up the object "Yes, yes, those are my eyes. Thankee" he said as he took the glasses lightly and put them on. He smiled back.
"I'm sorry, what was your name again?" he asked

She nodded, confirming that that was what she was. But then, she couldn't help but tilt her head in confusion at how he referred to the glasses. Really... maybe they were more than glasses...? Still, she passed them on to him without argument, if a bit hesitantly. He was a weird person, it seemed. Audi studied his face for a moment in silence, then began trying to get up again.
"Audi." she said, shifting her feet as she tried to find footing on the floor, rather than on one of the numerous layers of cloth she was wearing. Remembering that that was the usual habit for humans, she added: "You?"

Risiko stood up along with her. "I am Risiko Bann. It is very nice to meet you, even if in such an unusual way" He noted the hesitation and studying. Closing the toothy for an lipped, yet still enthusiatic, if not a bit cheeky, smile, he turned his head and presented the left side of his face. "Something the matter?" he inquired.

Finally, she managed to dig to the floor, and carefully she stood up, the dress billowing around her in all of its multi-layered glory. She swept down the cloth needlessly, then peered up at Risiko again. "Yes. And no." she said in her usual terse manner. Glancing around, she bent down to pick up the wig and hat and began to smooth them out in her hands. After settling the fake hair on the top of her head again, she threw the locks back in a haughty manner. "What are you doing here?" she asked, placing one hand on her hip impatiently, though there was a playful look in her eye that hinted she wasn't entirely serious.

"Mostly just looking around and exploring the school a wee bit. This theater looked interesting, and I figured some of the backstage stuff might be neat" Risiko said offhandedly, waving his hand, and turning his head to quickly look at the backstage. Just for a moment though, before turning back.
"So, are you drama teacher then, or another student?" he asked

She kept staring at Risiko with growing impatience. As much determination as Audi had in her to be more human, there were some things she would never quite make part of her life, not because she was unable to, but because she found them silly. Such small talk was definitely one of them. Questions could be answered in so few words, and humans were just all too eager to throw them around. Still, she managed to focus on his talking enough to pick the actual information out of it. She shook her head.
"Student. No drama teacher." she answered, in the manner all answers should be given in. He gaze wandered towards his glasses again and she lifted a hand to point at them. "What are those for?"

"My eyeglasses?" Risiko asked, looking cross-eyed at the extended finger. "oh here" he said as he took them off and offered them to her. "Look through them. Now, you'll see everything distorted and off, but since I have myopia, when I look through them, I see everything as people should."
He thought about his explanation to someone who didn't know what glasses were.
"Ah, my eyes are flawed. These sort of make everything better when I look through them"

Carefully, she accepted the glasses, and did as he said. Her head was about the same width as a human's, so she could slip them on, but he eyes being slightly off to the sides and her ears being higher up prevented her from actually being able to wear them. Actually, she almost poked out her eye as she tried to put them on, and she winced, deciding to hold the glasses with one of the lenses in front of her good eye instead. Risiko spoke the truth, everything seemed blurry, so much that she got startled and quickly pulled them away from her face. She had enough bad sight in just one eye, thank you very much.

Wait a moment...

Risiko currently being the closest expert on glasses she could find, Audi shifted closer to stare at him with intent desperation. She tilted her head to better show her mostly-blind left eye, covered with a milky white film, and pointed to it with her free hand.

"Would glasses... help?" she asked, then gulped with anticipation.

"Careful" Risiko said quickly as the leg hit her eye.
"Oh dear" Risiko said softly, looking sympathetic. He focused his attentions to her eye and leaned forwards for a better look. He turned his head from side to side a number of times. Without his glasses, it was a choice between his dominant eye and the one that could see better without a lens. He decided for clarity and faced left.
"It really depends, and I'm not certain. If you can't see out of it, then no, no lens will help that." He thought for a moment as he tried to recall the posters and hangings of his optometrist's office.
"If you can see out of it, still maybe not. But where I come from there are doctors and people who study eyes for a living. They might -and I stress might- be able to do something."
Risiko backed away from her face. "But it really depends on what you can and can't do with your eye right now."

Audi's shoulders slumped dejectedly. Of course, she had been stupid to let her hopes up, certainly the little she could see out of it would not be helped by a piece of glass. Risiko was clearly able to see much better without the glasses than she could. What he said later was meant to be somewhat reassuring, she knew, but it only made her feel even worse. "I--" she forced out, her voice sounding hoarse. She cleared her throat. "I wouldn't be able to go to them anyway." Handing the glasses to him, she took a step back as if to allow him a better look at her. "I am not human." she said quietly.

And she would never be.

He took back the glasses and but them on.
"We can see that" Risiko said quietly. He thought a moment. His eyebrow twitched several times. Slowly he started to look confused.
"Is that a bad thing?" he asked
